ElMaestro10ParticipantI’m here thinking about some of the possible outcomes for the Lakers and the #2 pick. Do you think Mitch should trade the pick? Should we select Okafor? Should they take Russell and try and get a big in FA (Munroe Aldridge Gasol Lopez)? Should they take a chance on Porzingis?
In my opinion I think they should try and steal Lawson and the #7th pick from Denver for the #2 pick. Is that enogh though?
They would then be in a good position to sign Cauley-Stein who could play along with Randle
Thoughts??

Sam_Da_Man17Participanttake russel its hard to find a point guard that shoots the ball and past…imagine the pick and roll between him and randle it would be beast…
if you get him and randle you would have to trade one of them and i dont think anyone wants randle by himself they would ask for okafor and maybe both of them
please dont get a big just to get a big

LALEAKERSParticipantThe only way I think I’m trading away the #2 pick is for a player like Demarcus Cousins. At #2 I hope they take Russell/Mudiay, I just don’t see Okafor becoming a star. I like Porzingis but I don’t see the fit next to Randle.

HitsterParticipantThe Lakers have cap space so can target an experienced big and perhaps still draft Okafor depending on what they do with Jordan Hill.
I’m still tossing up between Okafor and Russell for the Lakers. Logic says Okafor but Russell has that bit of X-Factor star quality and teams now perhaps value scoring PGs as much as bigs used to be the top commodity.
If I was the Lakers and didn’t land say Aldridge/Marc Gasol etc then I’d look at someone like Tyson Chandler, he may be 32 now but can still do a good defensive job and with him anchoring then Okafor and Randle can learn from him and play around him.
Tyson has his title so may fancy a new challenge as he enters the later part of his career.

Ahkasi ClayParticipantHonestly think that they should package the pick with Randle and go after Cousins.

Sam_Da_Man17Participanti hope they dont do it if it involve both the pick and randle it should be either or not both i think randle can be special and so is the 2nd pick
im saying lakers can still be a physcal team while being good in the perimeter if they just dratt russel and draft a big in the latter part of the draft robert upshaw who is the big who even draft experts say he is a lottery pick if he wasnt such a head case…i think if he is drafted in the 2nd round its not much of a risk plus he will have people on him like bryant russel and randle
1. russel, Clarkson
2. bryant
3. ryan hollins jefferson or justin anderson
4 randle
5 robert upshaw ed davis
and they have a shot at either Butler, tobias harris, middleton or lou williams in free agency
This gives them a real shot at keeping flexibitity, and the future and im sure free agents would want to come here…
am i that crazy to think this can work someone telll why it cant i just would want cousins if it ment giving up on randle and the 2 pick with clarkson..

SinaParticipantPlenty of options for Lakers:
1) draft Russell
Russell+Clarkson+Randle would give Lakers a promising your core and much cap space in acquiring more stars like Gasol, Butler this year and Durant next year. A lineup with Gasol+Randle+Butler+Russell+Clarkson would be very promising.
2) draft Okador
Okafor and Randle may not be good fit. However, Lakers can trade Randle for Bledsoe. Signing Thompson from Cavs or keep Davis and sign Butler. Then Lakers would have lineup like Okafor+Thompson/Davis+Butler/Kobe+Bledsoe+Clarkson and will have much cap space next year.
3) Trade #2 and Randle for Cousins and #6
King can pick Russell at #2 to pair up with Randle and Gay. Lakers can use the pick for Winslow. Then chase Aldrige. Cousins+Aldrige+Winslow+Kobe+Clarkson is not bad.

CoachWyersParticipantIf you can somehow get Demarcus Cousins and the 6th pick for #2 and Randle that is a no brainer for the Lakers I think, but I don’t see that getting done without a third team and really I don’t see Sacramento moving Demarcus Cousins..
I think they go with Okafor, but personally if I was their GM I would take D’Angelo Russell I think he will end up being the best player out of this draft. I see him more of a wing than a PG so you can play him and Clarkson together long term and this year when Kobe is still around you can slide Kobe over to the 3.
