kobyzParticipantWhich combo guard with elite shooting is a better prospect between the two? I think at least one of them gonna snick into the first round, to me although Young is the better athlete I’m going with Hanlan who seems purest and more natural scorer, i have feeling lakers gonna draft Hanlan cause he reminds them a bigger Andrew Goudelock aka Mini Mamba…

Robb_CParticipantOliver Hanlan, its not even close between the two..Young is gonna have to spend some time in the DLeague to figure things out.. Hanlan could be a fringe starting PG someday..

cycloParticipantJoseph Young. Unlimited range. One of the top pure shooters/scorers in this Draft. High % shooter from everywhere. Textbook form. Good handle. Can penetrate. Made a successful transition to PG in college. 6’2" in shoes. Quick and athletic. 40" vert. Senior and a 4-year starter. Ready NOW. Look at his record. Watch some clips. Please. Young is the real deal. In the age of Steph Curry, teams want PGs who can shoot. Reportedly has a 1st round promise.

Pacersfan22ParticipantIt all depends the fit and where they go in the draft. Both have plenty of experience from college to give a team a nice backup guard option off the bench. Personally I believe Joseph Young will be the better player because he makes smart decisions with the 58:1 assist to turnover ratio from this past season and he can light it up sort of like Lou Williams. Olivier Hanlan his ceiling may be slightly higher if he utilizes his talents at the next level like Reggie Jackson who also came from Boston College, but his biggest fallback is his lack of defense and if he doesn’t improve on that in the NBA he doesn’t have much of a chance staying in the league for long. C.J McCollum is another perfect example for Hanlan. Great shooter in college but lacked defense and didn’t really get many chances at first to start his career and found a way to breakthrough in the rotation come the 2nd half of last year into the playoffs. McCollum his biggest drawback also was his lack of defense but he has worked on it the past couple years. Joseph Young imo will have the better career but I could be completely wrong as well. It will all depend on the team who selects them

mike_r232ParticipantI had the opportunity to see Hanlan live at BC a couple times and he really impressed me. Fantastic scorer with decent size for a PG/SG (6’4"… not bad for an NBA that plays multi guard units). Averaged almost 20ppg last year with the opposing team’s defense draped all over him as the only legit scoring option on a weak BC team. He could be a great scoring punch off the bench at either guard spot for a good team. I could see him cracking the first round. Check out these highlight games from last year:
– 28 points vs ND
– 30 points three days later vs UNC
– 32 points in back to back games vs Miami and FSU
– 39 vs Pitt

Wouldn’t be at all surprised if Young turns out better than some of the PGs drafted ahead of him.

Meditated StatesParticipantHis passing will stand out in the NBA and his handle too. He will play well with all that space.

SurefireWinnersParticipantHanlan – no contest. Has legit combo guard skills. Only good player on BC last 2 seasons and still shot about 45% and averaged 18.5 and 19.5 in his soph and junior seasons.
Don’t be surprised to see him go in the 24-30 range.
