ZachAttackParticipantI’d really like to hear everyone’s opinion on this because I really want to know… Is Oubre to the Jazz a good pick? I don’t think the Jazz are looking for someone to make a big impact right now, but Oubre has loads of potential. I think that he would be a great back up to Hayward. Look at this Jazz Roster
PG: 1. Exum 2. Burke 3. Cotton
Exum has bulked up this summer and looks like he’ll be able to attack the basket more this year. Burke had a pretty decent end of season and hopefully he can carry that into next year. Cotton also did good at the end of the season and he’s a pretty good 3rd string PG.
SG: 1. Burks 2. Hood 3. E. Millsap/Ingles
Burks will be back and will really pick up his game imo. Hood had an excellent end of season and with he’ll be a great sixth man. I think that they are either going to let Millsap or Ingles go, they didn’t get much time near the end of the season.
SF: 1. Hayward 2. Oubre 3. JP Tokoto with the 42nd pick possibly
Hayward will only get better since he’s still in his prime. Oubre can really help out in the second unit with scoring and he is really confident that he will be great. (Watch the link at the bottom if you don’t know yet.) They can develop Tokoto since Snyder’s great at player development.
PF: 1. Favors 2. Booker 3. C. Johnson
First of all, with the 3rd string PF they also have the possibility of picking Grant Jerrett or Jack Cooley, but of the 3, I think that Chris Johnson is the best. Favors and Booker are a pretty great front court. And so they have that spot covered
C: 1. Gobert
Now I know what you’re thinking… the Jazz need to pick up a Center because that’s there weak spot. But getting rid of Jerrett’s near 1 million dollar contract, Ingles 1 million dollar contract, and Jack Cooley’s 800,000 dollar contract. That will give them nearly 3 million dollars plus their extra cap room that they have right now to pick up a good Center in Free Agency
I’d like to hear what you all think about this and tell me what you’d rather do. I think that if the Jazz do this then they could definitely be a playoff team and possibly a 2nd Rounder in the playoffs next year.

WinterSoldierParticipantI think he would fit well with the Jazz. They can be patient developing him. Right off the bat he would be able to come in and play defense off the bench. We could get a big guy in the draft but I would rather not they just take so long to develop.
My ideal offseason
#12 pick: Johnson or Oubre whoever falls to us
If there is anyone worth getting in the second round pick them, if not, trade the picks.
Free Agency: Sign Ed Davis. Sign Alexis Ajinca. They are both highly efficent back ups that don’t require many minutes.
Trades: I would look to trade Burke for a more veteran PG like CJ Watson or Patty Mills.
I think were a very probable playoff team with these moves.

Mad MaxParticipantI would look to use that #12 pick as part of a package to get a good veteran PG, say like maybe Ty Lawson.

rich.homie.mitchParticipantI wouldn’t give up ingles. He’s a good glue guy and makes a lot of good plays. He’s a little streaky with his shot though. I like Oubre a lot, but I think the Jazz should go after Turner if he’s avaiable. If not I’d go with Oubre.

Rip255Yeah it’s hard to find something better than Ingles for 1mil.
He came on strong in the second half of the season with his %’s

Captain LParticipantAs a Jazz fan for as long as they have been here this team is going to be fun to watch and see develop , personally I ‘m not that high on Oubre, he does have potential but his attitude ruins things for me. My first pick would be Turner and then Lyles hopefully one of them will be available and if we go with a wing I hope Johnson falls to us.

Willfb3ParticipantI really like this kid. He answers everything the way he should. He’s very confident in his game, but not cockey. I love his professional demeanor and practical approach to the game.

Chilbert arenasParticipantI think Oubre is best suited going to a team with an established coach and strong veteran leadership. On paper I think the Jazz is a perfect fit but I worry about his maturity.

Willfb3ParticipantI do think this pick makes sense for the Jazz. However, I don’t see them making the playoffs let alone winning a round. I really doubt the Warriors, Rockets, Clips, Thunder, Spurs, Pels, and Grizz miss the playoffs unless star players get hurt. Can the Jazz beat out the Mavs, Blazzers and the Suns for that last spot? And if they do there’s no way they beat one of those first 7 teams. It will be intersting to see how the Kings and Lakers fare as well (I doubt all that well.) The West is too tough.

kobyzParticipantThey have two corner stones at the wing with hood and hayward, oubre could be the right way to go because his potential and they need backup wing but i don’t think Oubre will be there at 12…

Rip255If anything, Joe Ingles deserves a raise.
Err, has anyone else noticed that virtually every Aussie that’s played in the NBA has won a ring, or gotten close.
Longley, Bogut, Mills, Baynes…and Delly got close.
Not a coincidence.
Exum & Ingles could just be a few years away (with the help of guys like Gobert, Haywood and Favors).
I’d be excited about that lineup.

slepchorParticipantI’d go with Kaminsky. A frontline with Gobert, Favors, Kaminsky and Booker can face anyone in my opinion. He is really smart, sweet shooting and plays like he has a ton of experience. I think he is what’s missing from Utah’s frontline. He has size, great passing ability, and good touch. Also, with Burke, Exum, Burks, Ingles, Hood and Hayward the minutes in the rotation seem pretty much taken, as long as backourt and wings are concerned.

Bed HeadParticipantIs everyone completely convinced Exum actually is a PG? Cause I’ve heard a lot of people suggest he’d be much better suited to playing the "2" (hence all the Kobe comparisons from last year).
And if so, might that possibly factor into their draft plans?

zer0d0ubtCorrect. If they draft Oubre they still need a point guard. Which is why Payne or Grant make more sense than Oubre.

Rip255You must be getting +1’s cos you’re like the only female on here and these guys dont want to scare you off…
But Exum is definitely a PG. He just wasn’t (and isnt) ready to run an offense yet. There’s never been 19yo PG who could.

Bed HeadParticipantNot, like, presenting a statement of fact.
Besides, I’m not the only female here.
Am I? I mean, what is this? A draft forum? Or Smurf Village?
Wait, what about "Cynthia"? Or the one from Hungary with the swimming cat? Aren’t they girls, too?

WinterSoldierParticipantYou shouldn’t marginalize her based on gender. She has good and bad opinions just like everyone else on this board. I personally agree with you on Exum being a PG but you should make it about the argument. Also there are other posters who get upvoted no matter what just being who they are and not on the strength of their argument. There is no reason to single anyone out.

Bed HeadParticipantAnd I pretty much agree with everything you said. Well, except for the "bad opinions" part (you sorta lost me there). Although I doubt his comment was intended quite the way it came out.
The irony is, I was just about to post on what Irina Pavlova has meant to me as a role model … but now that would simply seem self-serving.

HeadDoctorJParticipantThe Jazz have their eyes on the playoffs next season. With that in mind, why don’t they make a run at trading for Tobias Harris, perhaps building a package around pick #12? They would seem to have the necessary assortment of picks and players to finagle a sign-and-trade, and I imagine Harris may indeed consider one if he’s approached the right way. The Jazz could offer him a great situation, including a more featured role on offense as well as better support on both ends of the floor. In turn, he could round out their starting rotation nicely – presumably Exum, Hayward, Harris, Favors, Gobert – allowing Burks to come off the bench as a sixth man. They would not only have excellent size, but also enhanced positional flexibility to shift into small ball lineups, with Exum able to switch between PG & SG, Hayward able to switch between SG & SF, Harris between SF & PF, and Favors between PF & C.
I’m a Celtics fan. I hope to see Harris in green next fall. But I think he would be a great fit on the Jazz.
