I hate when people act like a role player had nothing to do with a championship. Basketball is a team sport. He helped win those rings. Teammates trusted him to knock down shots and he did. The guy had a long NBA career and I believe hit around 45% of his 3s for his career. Sure he wasn’t a star, but you cannot underrate guys coming in and doing their job at a high level.

As far as coaching goes, most of that stuff you mentioned is fluff. He played for great coaches and seems like the type of guy that applies what works. I have no idea of how good of a coach he is, but I do know that from this past season he’s willing to make some tough calls. I watch a coach like Thibs that is afraid to change things up. Kerr made adjustments as needed that a lot of coaches would never consider and it not only helped lead them to a great season, but the championship. In the NBA players are a huge part of the game, but some coaches give their team an extra edge.

If Scott Brooks had this kind of talent he easily would have won the NBA finals.

 He actually played a pretty big role in some of those championships. He wasn’t the headliner or anything but he was always a solid role player who never shrunk from the moment and had a penchant for hitting clutch shots, kind of like Derek Fisher. Hes a humble guy who doesn’t seek credit. He has lucked into some good situations in his career but sometimes you create your own luck. He could’ve easily just accepted the Knicks job last summer and the chance to work under Phil Jackson, but he was smart enough to hold out for a much better situation in golden state.

He probably borrowed heavily from the preparation and philosphical sides though.
