Your thoughts on Iggy winning it. I was surprized.

Lebron should have won the award, he deserves some kind of recognition for what he did, but I think Iggy is more deserving than Curry, he guarded Lebron better than anyone I can think of.

That would seem to indicate that Bogut was Least Valuable Player, LVP.

Iguodala starting for Bogut and the Warriors going small did seem to be the turning point of the finals.

Not sure that makes Iguodala the MVP.  Iguodala versus LeBron versus Curry.

Iguodala did play well, he was someone who was ready in Game 1 while other Warriors struggled.  Lots of defense, some 3s, assists and rebounds.  All those free throw misses, that didn’t end up hurting his team.  But LeBron was going for 40, and getting triple-doubles.  Most Valuable Cav, of course.  Curry had a big Game 5, but nothing really great in their wins, so Iguodala ahead of him isn’t a bad choice.

LeBron not winning, Iguodala’s team winning, not sure that is enough.  I would have picked LeBron as Finals MVP, without him the Cavs would have been swept and may not have scored 50 points in a game.

It’s over, time to get the mock drafts finished.

Lebron James was the most valuable player in the Finals by far. Flip Lebron with Iggy Warriors sweep 4-0 by 20 points. I dont understand why you have to give MVP to winning team. Jerry West deserved it in 69 James deserves it here

He shot 38% from the floor and had an insane usage.  Of course stats will accumulate, many of those are empty stats.  Meaning they had zero influence.

Pretty sure you  just logged on to 5 accounts and negged everyone who you disagreed with you and up’d all your comments that is really sad and pathetic. Be open minded and don’t try and control how people see things. Grow up that is super phony.

Wrong, but I’ll go ahead and neg all you posted right now lol.  I’ve basically retired from this site.  Just wanted to post a few things regarding Lebron and on the MVP.

Not sure how you can make a case that a guy who won 2 games and lost 4 in the series is more valuable than a player on the team that won 4.

Especially when you consider how poorly he shot the ball and his inability to step up in the pivotal moments of close games.

When the Cavs made their almost comeback in Game 6 they were giving it to JR Smith to shoot it, not Lebron, which is pretty telling.

Also, second year the Lebron stopper who also managed to score pretty well ended up winning the Finals MVP.

You think Andre Iguadala was more valuable to the Warriors than LeBron James was to the Cavs? That’s just silly. If you think a guy on the winning team HAS to get the award fine, but cmon.

It should be changed from Finals MVP to Winning team’s MVP

Just like NBA MVP should be changed to MOP/Best team’s MVP

I see it as flawed logic, but people can think what they want.

Want to measure Lebron’s value? Switch him with Iggy and see the outcome of the series Iggy would get swept 4-0 by 30 points a game . Iggy was the most valuable player on the winning team, Lebron was the most valuable all around player in the NBA Finals. He also averaged 45 minutes and had the highest usage rate in NBA Finals history.

I thought Curry would get it. I mean, 26 points on good percentages, 6 assists, 5 rebounds and 2 steals. There are a lot of players who’ve been doubled/trapped inside of and on the 3PT line, but we’ve never seen a player getting doubled/trapped almost 30 feet away from the basket. It was because of Curry that GSW had so many 4 on 3 opportunities. Once he made the right play after being doubled/trapped, Green was wide open to shoot, drive or kick to Barnes/Iguodala.

I have no issue with Iguodala getting it though. His defense on LeBron was phenomenal. Offensively, CLE was leaving him open, but he made shots…I just think he was the x-factor.

I’m just happy that they weren’t stupid enough to actually give it to LeBron.

Seems like the only previous Finals MVP with so weak a resume is Cedric "Cornbread" Maxwell (’81). In fact, their lifetime stats look quite similar, actually. His career ended before I was born, though, so maybe I’m underrating him. Was "Cornbread" any good? Who was better? Does anyone know?

BTW, I came up with a new nickname for AI (because "Iggy" sucks). "The Iguana". I think it sounds sorta cool. Plus kinda fits him.

Curry would have been my initial choice, the best player on the winning team seems to be the default strongest candidate. LBJ had a huge series but he’s won so many awards down the years does honouring him yet again mean anything. Also the series was 4-2 win, if it had gone to game 7 then a player on the losing team could be considered IMO.

Iggy has been a fine NBA player and this year happily took on 6th man role to facilitate the team’s system to great success. When he was given the chance to step up in the finals he showed what a fine player he still is.

I knew I’d wake up to read the LeBron bandwagoners displaying their salt.

LeBron played good, but that’s because he had to, the rest of the team is garbage. He was the MVP of his team, because he was the only one who could consistently score (and he wasn’t even that consistent). This is a team game and you will never win 1 vs. 5.

Iggy highly deserved the MVP. Sure his stats weren’t on par with a typical MVP winner but it was his presence on the court and his impact, not to mention his surprising consistency. If you actually watched the series you could not argue that Iggy won this series for the Warriors. He played astonishing defense, often against LeBron. He scored when they needed it most, and he’s not known for being a scorer. Let’s face it, the Splash Brothers for the most part did not have a very good series, Iggy kept them alive, hitting shots he normally does not. This was the most clutch I’ve EVER seen Iggy. He did it all, he’s an exceptional passer & rebounder as well. He epitomises the jack of all trades mantra.

For me it just doesn’t make sense to be an MVP in a losing effort unless you place more value on stats than winning.

If the goal of every NBA season/post season is to prepare and put your team in position to win the championship shouldn’t we (voters and casual fans) agree to award MVP to the player who was most integral in accomplishing the goal?
