KHAM83ParticipantHere’s a thought. If LA seriously considers leaving Portland, which I doubt, should there be a mutual interest between he and the Hawks?
Atlanta is a contender where LA can step in and make them favorites in the east. They have cap space to give him max $ without the need to trade away players, thus weakening the team. Atlanta is an athlete top favorite city to live and imo has now become a FA destination. Alongside Horford, LA would finally play and go to battle alongside an All star big man and in the East, the path is a lot easier. In coach Bud’s system, the 4 and 5 should be interchangeable and LA and Horford will provide this, becoming a matchup nightmare. He’ll also be our #1 guy, which the rumors suggest he wants. The teams rumored so far, Spurs, Mavs, Celtics all face an uphill battle either way with him and aren’t better options than Portland.
What do you all think? If he’s looking around, do you think he’ll take a strong look at the Hawks?

jaycee24ParticipantI agree that these 2 would be great for one another I just would want to know how they’re going to get a rim stopper in ATL. To me the biggest problem for them was their lack of size and LA isn’t really a shot blocker so they would need to solve that but maybe they could get by with 2 guys with decent size in him and Horford.

KHAM83ParticipantTrue LA isn’t really a top notch post defender but he and Horford would be so much better than Horford and Milsap. Although we struggled due to size, that wasn’t the reason we got swept by the Cavs.
Also, Google Walter Tavares if you do not know who he is. He’s our 7’3 second round pick from last year. He can step in and give us a few minutes a game next year. Don’t need him to come in and be Rudy Gobert like, just a big who can throw his body around when we go against Grizzlies and Wizards.

HobbyOGParticipantI’m a Hawks fan as well, not sure how he would help us get to the next level. He’s not a great rebounder or top notch defender. That’s what the Hawks are missing. Also we need another post who wants to bang. All of our current post players want to sit out there and shot jump shots.

The GoatParticipantIts not a bad thought. LMA seems to have the game thatd suit the Hawks. Along the same lines, if ATL consider someone a bit bigger with a J to go alongside Horford, any chance they try sign & trade Millsap and make a package for KAT?

CoachWyersParticipantI think Atlanta should target him, but he will not consider them. He is basically going to be between returning to Portland or going back home to Texas with the Mavericks or Spurs. Other than those three teams I don’t think anyone else has a legit shot at getting Aldridge. I think he stays in Portland, but if he does leave it will be to the Spurs.

HitsterParticipantGreat to see Coach on this forum, spent many hours debating basketball with him on another site.

CoachWyersParticipantWhat’s up Hitster it has been awhile. I have always been on nbadraft.net, doing mock draft contest and following up on draft, but have never really posted here. Don’t know how much I will post because have gotten busy with work and my new hobbies the past few years keeper fantasy leagues (football, baseball, basketball) and playing poker, haha, but yes we had many great discussions back in the day and hopefully we can have some more.

HitsterParticipantAlways valued your opinions Coach, the posters on here should do too. I’ve still to do my mock draft, will try to get it up in the next few days.
