Bmore_DCParticipantI dont understand why hes not being more highly touted. What real flaws does he have in his game? I personally watched him single-handedly DOMINATE teams this year. Look at his profile on this site, nothing lower than a 7 and he’s compared to James Harden? He’s a steal if he falls to 7 IMO

Lotto StudParticipantOnce you are already on the up, there’s no place to go but down, which is probably why no one is nitpicking at the moment.

apb540ParticipantI personally don’t see why he’s not being talked about at number 3 for the Sixers.

BiggysmallsParticipantHe’s like a concensus top 7 pick…who is that not "highly touted"
He’s a good player, which is why he’ll go somewhere in the 4-8 range. Nothing wrong with that. I’ve rarely seen poele who think he’s better than the top 3 prospects and Porzingas and Mudiay are a smidge ahead of him probably due to need of the teams drafting at 4/5/6

LaFlamaBlancaParticipantWinslow is one of my favorite players in the draft. Dude is a winner and is tough as nails. Needs to work a bit on his handle as well as his midrange game (shot a horrendous percentage on midrange shots this year) and his shot off the dribble. I think hes being rated just where he should be but if he does improve in those aspects he should be a steal for whoever gets him.

Bmore_DCParticipant@biggysmalls…
I meant as highly touted as the other big name players listed as going ahead of him

I see guys who post these kinds of things all the time and it seems to be coming from the mindset of "why is so and so not getting the respect they deserve?"
I think Winslow is behind Town-Okafor-Russell because he’s not the franchise big like Towns/Okafor could be and people value size at the top of the draft typically. The difference between him and Russell I think is the offense vs defense. Russell’s offense and shooting are ahead of Winslows value as a 2-way guy.
I’m a big Winslow fan and I think he could be a good pick at 4 or 5 but I just think his offensive game isn’t as explosive as some would like. He’s still a top 4-7 pick, so the difference between him and the top guys isn’t huge. I just think people like the offensive prowess that Russell offers ahead of what Winslow does.

omphalosParticipantHonestly, I think Winslow would have been a great pick for the Lakers if they had stayed in the top 5, instead of going second.
He has a chance to be the best player in the draft, but it’s just hard to pass up on size because it’s so much harder to get size in free agency than a solid wing player.
Personally, I think he’s the 3rd best prospect in the draft, but for whatever reason people are going nuts for Russell.

theballerwayParticipantLike said above he cant really handle , has no middle game, was not a main option , operated against power forwards in college, straight line driving on closeouts mixed in with a few jab steps. His threes are off of catch and shoot but his mid season slump showed he’s more streaky than an actual spot up shooter. Hes only 6 ft 5. he is absolutely nothing like Harden except being strong and left handed. Although strong hes height is more that of a 2 han a 3 but he is no way a (top 3 lottery pick worthy) 2 on offense or if he is your looking at tony allen 2.0.
I actually think he is way overrated right now. just my opinion of course. I mean guys are saying he could be the best player in the draft?????????Maybe if all the other prospects just quit or all get injured.
Hes a safe pick in you know your getting a high character guy with good pedigree , good atheletism and great effort on defensive end even decent feel. This is great for top 8 maybe 7 but top 3?? How? What am not seeing?

sitlbitoParticipantSeeing the damage Iguodala,Butler,Ariza do in these playoffs makes me think drafting Winslow would be a good choice. Now should he be your franchise player superstar? Maybe not

Bmore_DCParticipant@biggysmalls…
I agree %100… i guess im mostly just wondering why porzingas and hezonja are projected ahead of him now…maybe its because i havent seen those guys play, but ive seen winslow play and dudes a beast. I do agree he is after Russell, Towns, Okafor, and maybe Mudiay. Orlando needs to just take winslow and not over-think it. Harris can play a nice stretch 4 if they re-sign him.
Honestly it boils down to my un-fair bias against Euro guys. Always picked high and how many really work out? Gimme that grinder/beast Winslow who at worst will be a Harrison barnes…

Mr. 19134ParticipantI like Stanley Johnson more personally. Winslow is getting hype because he won a national championship wit Duke and passes the eye test, same thing that happen wit MKG. People are crazy talking about top 5. Towns, Okafor, Russel, Mudiay and Porzingis are franchise level talents. Hezojna is a clear better prospect. You could legit argue Booker and Oubre r better prospects honeztly

kobyzParticipantThere is a reason he won a title with duke, he was playing great winning basketball and he’s only a frashman so he should be talk about a top 4 pick…

shootingstar11ParticipantWhile I like Winslow, i do think his ceiling may be limited at the next level.
He’s a 6’4.5" SF / PF (w/o shoes, same height as Mudiay…) with inconsistent mid-ranged / pereimeter shooting. He had his best games when he faced against bigger / less-athletic "collegiate players". He won’t get that advance against the more athletic / bigger pros. he would most likely be playing against the likes of Lebron, Durant, Melo… in pros. All of them are bigger and stronger, maybe even faster than Winslow. hard to see him have any advantages over a Pro SF (and he’ll likely get grilled if he’s forced to play PF, which isn’t happening in pro).
There’s a very interesting analysis of his shooting, where he only converted 18-19% of his mid-ranged shots, that’s a red flag to me…
I like his competitivenss, but i just dont think his game would translate well in pro.

machu46ParticipantI think Winslow is right where he should be. In the discussion for the 5th pick, but anywhere from 5-7 or so is a good range for him.
He’ll bring a lot of energy and he’ll bring defense. Not really sure what to expect from him offensively. He’s undersized for a SF; probably will be a SG at the next level, but he isn’t a good ball-handler for a SG IMO. I don’t trust his shot based on his struggles at the FT line and shooting off the dribble. I expect he’ll be a strong finisher around the basket, but I’d rather take a chance on Hezonja at the SG position personally.
