Oh man, I HOPE that new mock is accurate and goes true because I would LOVE to add Okafor to the Knicks.

Porzingis to Philly seems crazy to me with Noel and Embiid, but Philly has shown before they make bold wild moves.

I also don’t see the Magic taking Mudiay with Payton and Oladipo. Unless they trade Payton

I just saw on twitter Alex Kennedy tweeted out that he is hearing that Jarell Martin has a mid-first round promise. What do you guys think? You think Toronto or Portland gave his a promise? They seem like a team mid-first round that has a need for the PF, Portland especially if they Aldridge is defintely gone as a FA.

That’s the third team I could see giving him a promise since they are in need for a young front court member especially with Nene getting up in age. Besides Toronto, Portland and Washington I don’t see what other team could be giving Martin a promise

If the Lakers take Russell then Sam Hinkie has a problem. Okafor would give them less variety in the frontcourt than Porzingis, if they took Porzingis it still leaves big holes to fill in the roster even if he might be a better fit around Embiid and Noel.

Hinkie could reach for Mudiay at 3 but it then pushes Okafor or Porzingis down to 5. He could look to trade down for Herzonja, Winslow etc or maybe even Mudiay or some deal involving him.

What would Orlando offer to move up to 3rd I wonder with Philly going to 5th and taking Mudiay. A lot would depend on if Orlando fancied Porzingis or Okafor.

A total wildcard might be what would Atlanta want for Denis Schroeder and some sort of 3 way deal between Orlando, Philly and Atlanta. Something like Schroder and 16th pick to Philly, 3rd pick to Orlando, 5th pick to Atlanta with Orlando perhaps sending one of their many due picks to Philly or a young piece.

You’re, like, completely falling for the mainstream media’s (totally transparent) attempt to generate "international intrigue"!

Okay, then … who wants to bet against me that the 76ers will not (under any circumstances) draft Kristaps Porzingis?

I’ll bet you anything. Seriously. Anything.

I’ll even bet you my cat. That’s how confident I am.

Do you want my cat? If Philly drafts Porzingis, you can have her.

Big picture probably precludes Porz, but a frontline of him, Joel and Noel would be fun to watch and for a long time.

Saric pick is somewhat of a problem now if Russell is off at #3, which I think is what you are alluding to.

But, I don’t think Hinkie gives a rats ass about what the public thinks and if KAT and Russell go 1 and 2, he will take Porz at 3.

      You’re on for the cat.

If your cat can swim so well, pappmb93,you’re better off not taking the risk. The only real "talent" my Pandora possesses is an uncanny ability to locate the most expensive stuff in the house (to throw up on). May be quite difficult to determine a winner of our bet, anyways, since we seem to agree.

In that (unlikely) scenario, PhillySteve, the 76ers would take Mudiay at #3. Unless the Knicks covet Okafor/Porzingis enough to be fooled into flipping picks. At which point, the 76ers still take Mudiay (only one spot later). BTW, Chris Mannix of SI reports "multiple league sources" say the Lakers are "locked into" Okafor, so there’s probably no reason to fret.

Which leads me to my final point. People always defend the Porzingis myth with, "Well, nobody knows what Hinkie’s thinking, or who he’ll draft." Then they turn around and go, "So here’s what Hinkie’s thinking, and here’s who he’ll draft."

Anybody else see the problem with that "logic"?

If the Sixers go with Porzingis at 3 I wonder what that means for Noel.  Do they keep all 3 bigs or do they move Noel and pair Embiid with Porzingis?  Also what could they get for Noel if they decided to try and move him?

Looking at the new mock I doubt the Magic take Mudiay unless they do it for somebody trading up.  They would probably just go with Winslow or Hezonja.  I find it hard to believe that Oubre would slide to 16.  Then there’s Robert Upshaw going undrafted.  Some head scratchers in the mock but there are a lot of rumors going around this time of year making it hard to pinpoint what teams are thinking.

Porzingis is a better fit at PF next to Embiid. But I’m hopin this is all a smokescreen and Sixers take Russell.  If they love Porzingis as much as people are saying maybe they can flip Noel to Orlando so they could get Russell and Porzingis.  Sam Hinkie won’t let out any information so I think this is all media speculation.

I can’t see Orlando doing that.  If Porzingis is there at 5 the Magic are better off taking him for themselves.  He would be a better fit than Noel and has more potential.  Orlando needs more shooting to compliment the lack of shooting from Payton and Aaron Gordon.  Noel might be improving his jump shot but he’s not the shooter Porzingis already is at 19 years old.

I think this is just Aran trying to be edgy.  I’ve heard elsewhere that the Lakers are all but locked on Okafor and I agree with RM in regards to the unlikelyhood. of picks 3 and 5.

I don’t know, Okafor looked pretty bad in the footage I saw of his Lakers workout.

Was really sluggish, jumper looked fairly broke/slow release.

It wouldn’t surprise me if he fell in the draft.

Glad you mentioned his workout.  I went to look for some footage from his Lakers workout and I have to agree.  His jump shot looked really weird.  The shot looked good going in the basket but his form was really slow and had a long pause.  If he doesn’t fix that I can’t see him being a good jump shooter.  Long athletic centers could cover plenty of ground to contest or even block that jumper.

Why did they make him shoot threes though? I’d understand mid range jumpers, but threes? The guy may never have a reliable three point shot and I think that is totally fine for him as a prospect.

Utah took Kanter at 3 a few years back when they already had Jefferson,Millsap and Favours so I would not rule out Hinkie taking Porzingis or even Okafor at 3. As I’ve said so many times there are 96 frontcourt minutes per game so a 3 man big roster could easily be run. I doubt Philly’s coaching staff would want Embiid playing way over 30mpg in what will be his first season playing and likewise with Porzingis.

Another scenario might be if KAT and Russell go at 1 and 2, Hinkie decides to take BPA who could well be Okafor/Porzingis and tries to flip him possibly for a top PG/SG/SF in a trade. If teams thought Okafor/Porzingis was in play then Hinkie might field some interesting deals.

Hinkie seems to be doing the rebuild almost one year removed due to the injuries to Noel/Embiid and the stashing of Saric whilst stockpiling picks. He might feel with Embiid due to play next season the roster already has one new star to fit in and prefer a more established player to help the team out with the idea of possibly getting another high pick next year and the likelihood that the Lakers pick via Phoenix comes over then.
