The way these playoffs are going is it going to affect the way MN uses their #1 pick? Defense is really playing a big part in these playoffs. You take a guy like D Green who can guard just about anyone of the floor. And now you have T Thompson playing very good defense for Cleveland.
So with that do you take a guy like Towns, who can protect the rim and plays better defense, or do you take a guy like Okafor, who doesn’t play as good of defense, but that Flip thinks has the footwork of a T Duncan, on offense.
Both Okafor and Towns have different talents that a person can makes different arguments on why to take them.
It should be an interesting two weeks before the draft, to see how this plays out.
The way I’ve heard is Flip wanting Okafor, but the rest of the staff liking Towns. They’ve done a good job with the last two drafts, hopefully they will do so this year also.

I’m sure the Wolves are considering every factor mentioned in the OP and much more. However this series will have absolutely no impact on who they ultimately decide to take (btw, don’t screw this up Minny – Arguably the top talent + perfect fit: Draft Towns)

What this series has showed me is Golden State needs a big that can score.  Not sure how that effects Minny. I think you guys just need players. And with the first pick you take bpa.

Golden State has a big who can score well in David Lee, they just need to use him, and I think they will from here on out. I agree though I don’t think this effects Minny’s final decision much.

Okafor is a guy who can score inside.  He can pass too.

on the other side, at the very least he can take up space and use his wingspan.

I will take his elite post skills, great length, huge hands, and top notch college pedigree.  He is still good on the boards and blocked some shots in college.  I would go with Okafor at 1.  Franchise center to go along with your franchise wing in Wiggins.  LaVine and Rubio are good guards who bring different things to the table.  You put a shot blocking, defensive minded big next to Okafor.  Maybe Dieng is that guy.  But the core will be there.  Then get role players around them.  That would be shooters mainly.  I would look at Pat Conaughton in the draft.  Even Quinn Cook.  Played with Okafor can shoot and played some point.  KG can teach Okafor defense.  Dieng might be the best guy next to Okafor though.  Then have a stretch 4 off the bench who can shoot.  Maybe Anthony Bennett is that guy.  If not, keep looking.

I would be more pissed that Towns ended up with Lakers if they decided to go with Okafor. This won’t happen though.
