ZachAttackParticipantWhat’s up with this site’s mock draft? They keep saying that the Jazz will pick Sam Dekker at 12, when as far as I know. The Jazz haven’t really looked at him. Am I missing something or is this site just not really watching basketball? There’s also some other questionable picks in the mock like Stanley Johnson falling to 11 and Myles Turner falling to 13. (he’s the guy I want the Jazz to pick). Am I the only one who noticed this? Any thoughts?

WinterSoldierParticipantI personally don’t believe the Jazz will pick him. There seems to be a strong correlation between white basketball players and the Jazz in mock drafts. It could be incidental but it happens every single year that I have been watching mock drafts which has been about 15 years. I pretty much just expect it even though lately we have drafted very few white players.

mamadouParticipantWith a defensive anchor like Gobert, a versatile 6’9 forward could be an idea in that nba, but i think they’ll go with one of Turner, Kaminsky or Portis to set their frontcourt for years…

mgreener_34ParticipantBecause sometimes it’s not about who you want, but who the team thinks is the best available. Picks are only questionable untill we see these guys play, and even then you can’t write home about them till their second contract.
On topic, the Jazz are set with a lineup of
Gober
Favours-Booker
Hayward
Burks-Hood
Exum-Burkes
Having a player who could play the 3 and 4 would be great for their versatility, and Dekker is a player who could really fit in, not because he’s white either. His stock is 100% based off of how he performs in shooting drills, and if teams think he can be a respectable 3pnt shooter in the NBA. If he can be, then I think he would be a solid addition to the Jazz’s offense.
Personally I think the Jazz should go with either Trey Lyles or Kelly Oubre. Oubre would be the high potential pick, and would be a great athlete to play alongside Exum and Hayward. I also think Lyles would be a good pick because of his versatillity, and ability to handle the ball. The Jazz pg’s were terrible last year, and most of their offense was ran/started by Hayward. Having as many ball handlers as you can on your team with Gobert/Favours is ideal, same with shooters. Expect the Jazz to take either of those two skillsets.

Mr. HookShotParticipantAlthough Hood mostly played at the 2 position last year I believe he will evolve into more of an typical SF, as his body fills out and he gains strength. Having said that, I believe the Jazz should go for the BPA, considering they have a lot of players that are versatile and can play multiple positions. In addition to the two names you mention (I believe Lyles will be gone by the time the Jazz pick) I have them taking Turner. With his outside shot Turner is a good fit next to Gobert or Favors, and the Jazz are in a position to take a shot at a highly talented player, who still needs time to refine his game.

MopgrassParticipantI’ve been following what scouts are saying and what websites are saying. There’s been so little (that I’ve seen) said about Myles Turner, Stanley Johnson, Sam Dekker, Trey Lyles, and Jerian Grant. Lyles has been talked about the most of those. I assume it doesn’t bode well for some of those guys, but maybe scouts are secretive about players they want on their teams.

ZachAttackParticipantThanks for the feedback. A lot of the names you guys said are names I would like to see in a Jazz uniform.

Captain LParticipantThe Jazz are pretty well set on their starters with the young core of players they have, so they can take the bpa or the player that will fit the best, versatility is a key, Lyles can play 3/4, Kaminsky 4/5, Turner4/5, all are stretch 4’s and that is what the Jazz need, I would be pleased with any of the 3 but I’d like Lyles the best.

sitlbitoParticipantIt’s pretty clear to me if Myles Turner is available,no way Utah passes on him.
