Just wondering what everyones opinion is on Towns and what team he would suit

I personaly think that Orlando would be perfect for him as he would complement Vucevic very well due his range and rim protection. I believe if he was drafted to Orlando he is a future all-star and the magic will make the playoffs next year, however I think if he gets drafted to the Knicks or gets stuck in the logjam of big men in Philly he could be forogten about for a couple of years, lose his confidence and end up like Thomas Robinson is now.

Gives them a rim protector who would pair well with dieng.

    Rubio/wiggs/shabazz/towns/dieng

He fits almost every team in the lottery because of his ability to play PF and C, except for the Sixers.

The Knicks could build around him, they have nobody else.

The Lakers could pair him wit Randle for a great front court tandem of the future.

The Magic dont really need him because Gordon is they’re PF of the future, theyd be better off going wit Johnson

The main issue for the magic right now is rim protection, as both Frye and Vucevic are awful protecting the wing. And long term I believe AG00 will be one of the best 6th men in the league.

However I think Tobias is good as gone for Orlando once he hits restricted FA this summer. After Harris bolts Aaron Gordon is most likely to play SF next year and beyond for Orlando, and occasionally slide to PF based on mismatches. AG’s handle and 3pt shooting has been pretty decent this year which is promising for his outlook as a wing.

Orlando is desperate for rim protection. Frye is an absolute disaater on Post D and weak side help. Vuc (who I really, really like on offense) and Frye are the worst defensive frontcourt in the league besides the Sacre/Kelly combo in LA. If they draft Johnson, then maybe they’ll slide Aaron to the 4 full time. That’s an interesting thing to watch this offseason

Robinson is a poor shooter and about 4in shorter than Towns. I like Towns game. Its tuff to project per 36 or per 40 numbers when he only grtd 20min a game. But I really like his face up from the top of the key. He getd to the rim off the bounce. Also good shooter. I would compare him to lamarcus Aldridge, young Aldridge.

Not a huge fan, but I think he’ll be a starter. I don’t think he’ll do anything at an elite level in the NBA, just good in a few areas, and below average away from the hoop defensively.

I completely understand why he is regarded a high pick. He has the size, and per minute production, but I just don’t see an elite NBA center. I think he’ll be able to rebound, and block shots, but although his offense seems to be coming along lately, I just don’t see him as a 1st or 2nd NBA option.

Also, despite the fact I see NBA translation in shot blocking, I worry about his pick and roll defense as I feel he is a little lumbering laterally. I think he’ll probably be below average switching, and following more mobile stretch 4’s and 5’s out 15-20 feet away from the hoop.

There’s something about the way he moves I don’t like all that much, it could be because he’s top heavy, and I think he’ll get knocked off his center of gravity against stronger NBA players, or maybe just because he’s slow laterally, but he doesn’t really strike me as a guy with as much upside as many think he has.

He’s probably a starter level player, if you want to grab a starter in the top 5, I think you’re reaching. It’s probably not as popular of an opinion, but I’d take Okafor, Russell, Mudiay, Johnson, Hezonja, and WCS over him. I’d have think think hard too about choosing him over Oubre and Winslow as well.

Interesting, I think he has the most potential in the class (doesn’t mean he will be the best) and I’m a little surprised he isn’t considerd for the top pick. He’s not as polished or productive as Okafor, but I can’t see Okafor being much more than Al Jefferson. Outside of a low post game, Towns is superior to Okafor in every catagory. I could see why some teams might covet Okafor more, but Towns rim production, rebounding, shooting and developing post skills makes him a better for for a lot teams, simply because he’s diverse and can contribute in multiple ways.

i guess it’s the age old idea of drafting based on potential, but I’m a total believer in Towns, even after I had my doubts early. This isn’t a shot at Okafor, who I’m pretty high on too, and could see him as a rich man’s Al Jefferson, and even just Al Jefferson is pretty good.

I’d be a surprised if Towns fell on draft, night. This is more of a personal big board. I think he’ll get looks very high as well.

The one and done era has really changed how we look at players. You almost have to imagine a guy at 21 or 22 given what he’s shown and his potential pattern of growth. Not all guys with this kind of potential pan out at an elite level, and that’s where I think Towns fits in

I don’t think he does anything or projects to do anything at an elite level in the NBA, and he’s not athletic enough to empose his will on NBA centers. I don’t think he’ll flop, or be bad. I just think of the top 4 or 5 guys on most Mocks right now, he has the best chance of just panning out to a starter level player.

completely agree about him not showing everything he is capable of.. remember Cousins almost never shot jump shot now that’s one of his main strengths.. pretty similar with Julius Randle last year..

Towns seems to develop into very good if not great shooting center, maybe even out of 3point line one day.. also the more touches he will get the more of a great playmaking big he will become.

Dont worry, man. Someday you’ll discover women, and realize just how big of a waste of time trolling an NBA draft site is. Hope your finals go well in a few months, and you pass the 7th grade.
