Are we underrating one big time prospect?

First of all, it will be statistics and college career comparisons but don’t blame me for comparing them, I’m not concretely saying this year’s prospect will have the success the other two has in the league.
so let’s start:
player number 1:
Freshman in college stats 14.6ppg very efficient, mostly scored in the post, but showed jump shot potential. Defensively great – 10.4rpg 4.7bpg 1.4spg played 32 mpg won multiple titles.
physique at the time- 6’11 222lbs 7’6wingspan very mobile and athletic

player number 2:

freshman stats 15.5 pretty similar skillset, less effiecient but much much better from 3 (47%)
Not great on D but with potential – 9rpg 1spg 2.1bpg in 31mpg
size – almost 7′ 225lbs 7’4 wingspan, very mobile and pretty athletic.
PLAYER NUMBER 3 (currently freshman, plays less minutes but will show per32 stats)
16.4ppg nice touch from long range over 80% from the line
9.4 rpg 4blocks
maybe not that athletic or explosive as number 1 but really mobile and still pretty athletic
better sized then both, even before college measured almost 7feet tall with 7’4 winspan and good 242lbs frame.

You are talking about Myles Turner, right? I do like him, provided he finishes the season strong and has some more good performances against tough teams. I fear that his post game won’t translate well, but he has size and touch, so it may if given time.

Yes. But neither of other guys aren’t great back to the basket even now, size length and great touch shooting the ball made them perfect big men scorers.

I like Myles Turner. Hope he is there when the Grizzlies pick. I like the idea of him with his shot blocking skills and having some range.
Stats though? Freshman stats? Greg Oden put up GREAT freshman stats, Andre Drummond not so much.
Who would you rather have?
Can this guy walk?
Heard Myles Turner has kind of a limp. Somebody said it — either on this board or the Grizzlies message board.
If you need help at center this year and you are picking outside the top 5 I would put Myles Turner into that category with Frank Kaminsky. I would also put Dakari Johnson there.
On the one hand, Dakari is HUGE — a beast, built like Andrew Bynum with some skills. On the other hand, Kaminksy could be the NBA MVP in 1956.
What do you do?

  It might have been me on the Declaring/Staying post. I’ve seen it said on other places as well. At first I brushed it off, but then I noticed it to the point if it was any other playing limping like that I’d really think this player is injured. He also has extremely large feet even for someone his size, size 22 feet. I think it’s the same size as Shaq.
  I still think he is one of the most talented bigs in this draft with what he brings with his ability to shoot from all the court, fundamentals and defensive prowess. However, the health concerns are there.

He broke his ankle before his junior year in high school and sprained his ankle at the Hoop Summit. There’s nothing worng with him and he definitely doesn’t have a limp.

Myles reminds me of a young Serge Ibaka, just without the leaping ability or confidense. I would love for the Celtics to pick him up if he falls that far, or move up to get him if they can. Shot blocking and shooting is something every team needs.
I wouldn’t go as far as to say Myles Turner is being underrated. He was getting a lot of hype at the beggining of the year, and is still considered a lottery pick. I just think a lot of the teams in the lottery this year are set with big men (Jazz, 76’ers, Detroit), and Turner just simply isn’t a better big man prospect than Okafor or Towns. I would group him in with the WCS and Porzingis’ of this draft. High potential to be good, and high potential to bust.
I also think the wings in this draft are kind of making people stand up a little. With the recent developement of players like Paul George, Jimmy butler, Kawhi Leonard, amoungst other athletic wings, it’s drawing more attention to the better athlets in this years draft who seem to be more maleable than a big man

Blocks per game is not a good measurement for defense. This is where advanced stats and the eye test come in handy.

90 FREAKING% at the Free throw line…. Impossible he falls out of the top 10. I agree 100% with the less mobile Serge Ibaka comparison. But Ibaka wasn’t that good of a shooter back then though.
