Mr. HookShotParticipantDespite that almost everybody on this site gets ‘killed’ for posting trade ideas I really enjoy reading and discussing them. Looking for lacking pieces on teams around the league and matching them with ‘ redundant’ and available players from other teams is a nice ‘game’ for me personally. So here are some ideas; please feel free to discuss and comment, maybe give alternative ideas how to improve proposed trades. Let the discussion begin!
1) Calderon for Terry
The Knicks needs to acquire as much assets as possible, and they still have a solid veteran in Calderon. He would fit very nice next to a ball-dominant SG in Harden, as a nice shooting veteran presence. The Knicks get Terry in return who is an expiring contract and would provide cap relief for next summer. Only that is already enough for the Knicks to give Calderon away for next-to-nothing.2) David West (Indiana)
First of all, I have to admit I also saw the idea Indiana should trade West somewhere else on the Internet. Although the Pacers can still make the play-offs I believe they should acquire as much assets as possible. West can opt out after this year, which I see him do in order for him to sign another multi-year contract. If they can trade him for young talent and/or an upgrade at PG they should do it. I suggest these two trades2a) West for Jackson/Perkins/2nd Rounder (or Lamb/Jones)
OKC could use a savy veteran big man who is capable to score inside. West is still a good defender, and I could actually see him playing next to Ibaka.
In return, the Pacers get back an upgrade at PG (over Hill) who they might sign long-term and an additional asset (2nd Rounder, or Lamb/Jones) next to the deadweight that is Perkins (who they might buy-out so he can join a contender as an additional big man of the bench).2b) West for Fields/Patterson/2nd Rounder
Another team who could use West for their play-off push are the Raptors. He could provide some play-off experience for Toronto they could need to improve their team.
In return the Raptors send back a solid, 3pt shooting big man in Patterson (‘West light’), a second rounder and Fielder to make the salaries match.Add: Other players who will get traded
– Gibson –> For a solid, shot-creating SF (Wilson Chandler?)
– Jack –> To the Pistons (temporarily replacement for Jennings) or Clippers (back-up PG)

Lotto StudParticipantI hope Perry Jones III doesn’t phase himself out like Earl Clark. I really like him.

dmo21ParticipantI like to ponder with trade ideas, and yours aren’t half bad. Just thought I’d leave some comments on them. Plus I’ll add my own at the end.
1) I like it. As a huge Calderon fan, I’d love to see this. He’s great at spot up shooting and running the pick and roll. I think he’s a perfect fit with Howard.
2) I’m on the other side of the fence where I think Indiana can make a playoff push and pull off some upsets once George comes back (especially in the weak East).
2a) If he was to get traded, this would be a good fit. A veteran who knows how to play down low is ideal for OKC.
2b) As a raptors fan, I don’t want to lose Patman. I’d actually prefer to trade Amir over him but he’s the heart and backbone of this team (and very underrated). I don’t see the Raptors making any big moves.
Others:
Even with all the rumours I don’t think they trade Gibson. And if they do I think it’s going to be for more than Chandler.
Jack and Detroit don’t fit with me. Yes, Detroit needs a fill in point guard, but Jack is signed too long term for that. I think they’d take the Charlotte route and get a veteran with an expiring contract (ex. Lin).My trade (going for the gusto here):
Brooklyn gets Stephenson and Kanter for Lopez and Bogdan.
Charlotte gets Perkins and Jackson for Stephenson.
OKC gets Lopez for Perkins, Jackson, and McGary.
Utah gets McGary and Bogdan for Kanter.0 - Posted on: Mon, 02/16/2015 - 10:38am #966898

Mr. HookShotParticipantOKC gives up too much for Lopez imo; he gets payed a lot per year, and isn’t a real proven commodity. Perkins is an expiring contract which they could get more for in return I believe. McGary is a nice talent I believe OKC shouldn’t give up onto too early.

hbomb3300ParticipantOnly trade I could really see happening is the 1st one. I think the Knicks would be very open to trading Calderon since he hasn’t been that good and they want as much cap room as possible this summer. Also, I don’t think West is a good fit for the Thunder, especially in that trade scenario. If they gave up Perkins they would only have 1 legit center on the roster, Adams, who is out for 2-3 more weeks.

Mr. HookShotParticipantWhat about McGary? He plays a nice bruising game which fits nicely at the C position. Him, together with Adams, Ibaka and West would fill in the front court positions.

CU.LIONSParticipantWell with the trade deadline coming soon, I was hoping to see lots of dialogue on it. Unless a trade idea is ridiculously bad, I am always open to ideas.
good job overall.

sitlbitoParticipantThe reason people hate trade ideas on this site is that most of the times it looks like “what about a davis for lebron trade?”(I really saw this). Anyway I love your first idea,Calderon would make sense considering the shooter he is in the 3pts bonanza that the Rockets are. But,the rockets looove cap space so I don’tknow is they would be willing to take him and his contract.

Jco4ParticipantI don’t mind the Jarrett Jack to Clippers idea but I think the Clips have to go for a cheaper option. With Schroder’s development maybe a negotiation for Shelvin Mack is available?

machu46ParticipantAny small ideas for how the Bucks could get some help on the glass? I don’t think Milwaukee will move Jabari, Giannis, Middleton, or Knight, but I think the rest of the guys are on the table and they desperately need some rebounding help.
The perfect fit would be a big guy that can rebound while also being able to pass or score a little bit (basically, someone like Zaza, but more effective on the glass).
I’ve also heard some rumors that the Kings and Bucks have been talking about something along the lines of Ersan and a 2nd round pick/Johnny O’Bryant for Nik Stauskas and Jason Thompson. I personally feel like Stauskas would have more value than that, but I heard that’s reportedly on the table.
I had also heard a rumor about something that could potentially happen around the idea of sending Ersan to the Warriors and absorbing David Lee. Other parts would need to be included to work financially, but I think Lee would be a pretty good fit for what Milwaukee is looking for albeit at a very high price financially.

dmo21ParticipantBasing these off comments on this thread and what I’ve been reading, I got another couple ideas.
1) Pekovic to the Bucks. Big strong rebounder/scorer. Should fit nice beside Henson. Wolves could ask for Ilyasova (better fit) or Mayo (shorter contract). Pekovic could become a beast in the East.
2) Lee to Brooklyn. Warriors need to unload Lee so they can sign Green without ruining to much chemistry (they know they can win without Lee). I think Brooklyn needs to be buyers as the East is wide open and they don’t own any of their picks for a lifetime, so no reason to sell and tank. So the trade is Lee for Garnett and Anderson (chose him over Bogdan or Karasev as he’s cheaper and a veteran). Garnett can backup the 4 and 5 and bring playoff experience and grit. Anderson doesn’t need to play much but can step up into any situation.

Lotto StudParticipantI think the Nets need to get younger and not add anymore veterans with contract pull.
