JCliff24ParticipantGranted he has had an injury plagued season, for the first time in a long time, Durant has looked human.
Meanwhile, Rusell Westbrook has put up 40 points in 3 of the last 5 games, is averaging career highs (so far) in Points and Steals, and seems to have an un-matched confidence that there isn’t a player in this league who can stop him.
My question: Can Westbrook, and will Westbrook ever be better than Kevin Durant?

nzsiderParticipantI love watching Westbrook play. Westbrook IS the best PG in the league.
Nobody else is on his level both offensively AND defensively. Granted the likes of Wall, Curry, Paul and Kyrie are definitely a match offensively they cannot defend on the same level as Westbrook.
I think Westbrook is Durant’s equal for sure. For me if I had to choose between the two and build a team I would choose Westbrook over Durant but its not based on skill so much for me as I think they are well matched in skill level. I think the difference is Westbrook’s attitude and will to win. Its unforgiving and reminds me of Jordan, Kobe and LeBron in the way he can just take over.
Durant just lacks a killer instinct at times.

sitlbitoParticipantStop that already. Westbrook had a stretch where he shot less than 35% from the floor and they lost to the likes of Atlanta,Cleveland and had a hard time winning against Minny. He has some great games, but it’s just the return of Durant. If he manages to somehow be consistenly healthy this year,he’s still the franchise player and the most consistent player. And they still have at least 1 and a half season with both of them,we don’t care who the best is,they just have to win TOGETHER.

lalailaParticipanthe is just amazing this year..and he still plays under 33minutes per game
his per 36 min averages are like 28.5-7-8.5-2.5.. man even LeBron can’t get it every single year.

max23Participant48 pts,45 pts,40 pts recently yes…but first 2 were against NO(guarded by Tyreke Evans i think, not very good defender)and last one against NY… If we talk offense, hes shooting 43% from field on 20.8 fga and 28% from 3.Last time Durant shot under 47% from field was his rookie season.Obviously.If we are talking only scoring offense,Durant has him beat.
As an Okc fan,i want to see Durant avg at least 3 shots a game more than him.Enough of Westbrook shooting more than Durant when both are healthy. With all that said,Westbrook is an awesome player, but KD on another level.

properbreaksParticipantNo, no, no and no! On second thought……… No two more times. I wouldn’t even compare them, because it’s not a comparison. KD averaged 32 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists last year and Russell still shot the ball more than him. (lol) Once again, no comparison

ExumInfernoParticipantSome stats for people to look at.
Per minute this season, Westbrook scores more and has more than twice as many steals and gets as many rebounds as Durant. So Westbrook does a lot.
But the answer is Durant is better now, and will continue to be. All his shooting percentages are so much higher. Durant is someone who can play three positions, Westbrook can play two. Durant’s height will always give him the advantage.
For Westbrooks’five biggest games for points this season, the Thunder have lost four of them. The Thunder have won five of Durant’s biggest scoring games this season. So Durant as the mian scorer and Westbrook doing everything else would be better.
Obviously the Thunder are lucky to have both players, and in the future if one player is on another team it should mean fans see Durant’s team winning more. Winning teams are built more around a tall player or superstar swingman, and Durant is both.
