     1) Hassan Whiteside – I don’t believe he’s going on a Jeremy Lin type of run. I believe he can stick to be this type of player. First, he have elite physical gifts ( 7′ 270 7’7" wingspan ). Second, he have 3 elite NBA skills in rim protecting, rebounding, and finishing ( and he have good touch ). Finally, he don’t play in a media frenzy city such as New York,  Los Angeles,  and Chicago. Don’t call me crazy but he sort of reminds me of Joel Embiid in terms of skill set and physical tools. I see him as a quality starter for the future. It’s funny because Hassan Whiteside is the exact player the Heat was looking for in the Big 3 era. They tried Dexter Pittman and Greg Oden bit they didn’t work.

    2) Wizards –  I love this team bit I don’t see them going past the second round with the bench and/or with this coach. I honestly believe John Wall is a top 3 point guard ( Stephen Curry and Russell Westbrook ) and top 3 in most VALUABLE player in terms in " if you take him out how your team will perform/play ". I say the other 2 are LeBron James and James Harden. This team just stinks when John Wall is off the court. I believe ( I don’t have the stats right now ) when John Wall is on the court the Wizards have the most efficient/best offense and when he’s off they’re 2nd to last. Same with defense when he’s on the court they’re top 5 and when he’s on the bench they’re bottom 5. Reason is that Andre Miller can’t defend quick guards, nobody other than John Wall can create offense on the team, rotations have been horrendous, and they only have 3 legit 3 point shooters. They need to make some trades or wait for someone oversees to help the bench. Some players I believe that they can realistically trade/sign for are Gerald Green ( final year of contract ), Jarrett Jack ( not part of the future ), Nate Robinson, Gerald Henderson.

    3) Kings – What’s up with their organization? This team have been god awful in terms of management and play. They seem like they can’t get it right. They hit a gem in DeMarcus Cousins in the draft and after that they were terrible. Starting from last year when the discussion were to draft Elfrid Payton or Nik Stauskas. I thought they should’ve drafted Payton because he would fit well with Cousins. They also quit on the players and coaches. They fired Malone for basically no reason because he wasn’t winning with this garbage roster. They quit on Thomas Robinson by trading him in his first year. Some times people need to grow as players and it takes time. There were also rumors that Nik Stauskas was on the trading block in his first season. That’s just a shame to be honest.

    4) Mudiay vs Russell – I was all in on Mudiay ever since seeing him play. In the beginning of the season I thought Mudiay was a lock to be the first guard of the board. I’ve seen a lot of Russell game and he reminds me of a combo of Manu, James Harden, an Brandon Roy. I haven’t seen a lot of Mudiay so I can’t judge him until the combine and other pre draft stuff. The game just come so easy for Russell. He can shoot, pass, defend, rebound, and have great physical gifts for a point guard. As of today I would take Russell over Mudiay because what I can see on TV.

I wonder how bad Miami would be without Whiteside. They are probably outside the playoff race. Either way, it’s a nice story. I know there were a lot of people that were high on his potential when he was drafted. It seems like he kept working hard and when he finally got another chance he made the most of it.

    1) I believe there is always a role for players like Whiteside, even very valuable roles on championship teams (see Chandler). However, he needs to increase is FT shooting a little bit (now at 55%) from him to be able to play during the end of the games as well. You see that has been an issue with athletic big man like him (e.g. DeAndre Jordan).

    2) The only team that is head-and-shoulders above the others right now are the Hawks. They do not only have the talent (Teague, Horford, Millsap, Korver etc.) but also the coaching/system to dominate the other teams. However, I can see the Wizards beating all other teams in a 7 game series, especially considering that have added the important veteran they needed in Pierce. Having said that, the Wizards will not get past the second round if they meet the Hawks in the second round, which will happen if they drop one more place. I believe this will happen, and even give both Chicago (30 – 19) and Cleveland (29 – 20) a good chance to catch up on the Wizards (31 – 17).

The kings could have had payton or vonleh(who while a project is a rebounding, rim protecting jumpshooter in the making). In two or 3 years he would be a great compliment to cousins. Payton would have been great too since they needed a creator and he could have backed up collison for a year or 2 while he developed. Instead they take stauskus who at best is JJ redick at worst john jenkins. They went with the lowest upside and has about the same risk and floor as the other guys and not to mention he plays SG just like the guy they drafted the year before. I understand their pain, the timberwolves wiffed on so many picks over the years

And the Kings gave up on players also. They trade them if there not an " immediate impact " player. They either don’t play them ( Jimmer Fredette, Nik Stauskas, Thomas Robinson ) or they just don’t put them in a situation that they can succeed.

this is a pretty tough argument to make considering how fredette and t-rob have performed for other teams.

i think if you were to really argue about giving up on players, better examples would be mclemore and mccallum.  the drafting of stauskas was mainly as a backup plan to mclemore after a poor rookie season.  i think they will end up regretting not taking saric or payton.

mccallum was even harder to understand.  he played really well at the end of last season.  i understood collison coming in because they couldn’t give ray the starting job but adding sessions pretty much put an end to mccallum getting significant backup minutes.
