Which backcourt will be the best defensive backcourt in the NBA for years to come, Avery Bradley & Marcus Smart or Victor Oladipo & Elfrid Payton?

Smart is the best defender you listed there and Payton is the worst.  Maybe it is just me, but Payton has been abused the few times I have watched Orlando.  Maybe it is just the games I have watched, but he has looked pretty bad.  Brandon Knight just abused him the last time they matched up.

Although the combo is no where near there now MCW & KJ Mcdaniels have the potential to be steller defensive players, just due to there great size, length and athletism. Both have alot to improve on,  off the ball especially where both tend to get lost. They also need to take less gambles on ball, buth they could be total menaces on defense. There is also the added demension of KJs shot blocking, a really unique talent

My top defensive backcourts haven’t been mentioned with. I think the award should either go to John Wall/Bradley Beal or Goran Dragic/Eric Bledsoe.

Besides my incoherent first sentence, (should read: ‘haven’t been mentioned yet:’), not sure why I got negged so hard. Fairly certain I don’t need to argue for the defensive abilities of Bledsoe or JWall…

So first of, Dragic is a solid defender. He’s long and athletic and is a capable defender. He’s only averaged 1.0 steals a game, but he does plenty to stay in front of people. Beal is an above average defender. Bah, I might be seeeing the issue.

Smart and Bradley are both amazing on ball defenders for their size, and get down in their stance and get up on people. They are very scary going forward on that end of the floor. I also think the trio of Conley/Allen/Lee is as formidable as any in the league. All three are good team and man defenders, and all of them have really quick hands and can get in the passing lanes.

Going forward I could see Dipo and Payton being a scary good defensive tandom, but the Magic don’t have a rim protector, so as of now we really can’t see their full defensive potential. When the Magic get a shot blocker it will allow both of them to ball-hawk a lot more.

I know Derozen doesn’t play much SG, but him and Lowry also make for a tough duo on that end of the floor. Both are big and athletic and aren’t afraid to mix it up. Not the best in the league, but worth mentioning.

They aren’t the top, but I wanted to give a honorable mention to Wiggins and Rubio. We have not seen them together with Wiggins as the SG since he was at the SF when Rubio was healthy, but I think these two have a great future together as backcourt mates. This is all based on my assumption, but it seems likely that Wiggins will be the SG of the future while Muhammad could be the SF.
