TarHeelRavenParticipantIt is well known now that the third of the Plumlee brother’s to come through Duke has little basketball skill to compete at the D1 level and most likely has no NBA future like his 2 older brothers. He is a solid back-up to Jahlil Okafor in short stretches and does have athleticism and can grab rebound and score with the occasional strong put back. Marshall will be joining the Army as an officer after graduation. Anybody who volunteers to serve their country as my utmost respect. I am an xray tech and did my second year clinical at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Bethesda, MD, the same hospital that sees the president. I got to work with military personnel everyday and heard stories of pain and sacrifice. I think Marshall could have a career in Europe or China off the bench with his solid athleticism and be paid pretty well. He is choosing to serve our country as an officer and that is a noble sacrifice and choice he is making. Good for him and best of luck to him in his career.

Memphis MadnessParticipantWhy couldn’t he play in the NBA? He is a solid athlete and takes up space.
I would think NBA teams would try him out after his military service.
Coach K could never figure out how to play the Plumlee brothers. They might also be a better fit for the NBA.

Lebron’s HairlineParticipantHe’s not going active, he’s a reservist and yes he joined but he still talks about pursuing a professional basketball career, let’s not give him too much credit. Welcome to the 1% but being a reserve lieutenant is not a bad gig at all.
P.S. I’m an active duty airborne medic by the way

qDizzle32ParticipantMarshall mainly got all of that praise throughout his career in high school because of his brothers. Very undeserving of that McDonalds All American spot in 2011 and is now a 22 year old junior still getting limited minutes and not being very productive. Sure he is at Duke, but if he played for a below average Big Conference school, I still could only see him being very average. But I agree with you very much that anybody who volunteers to serve our county deserve much respect, so hats off to Marshall for doing this for us.

Scrooge McDuckParticipantBoth his brothers were underrated coming out of college.
All that stuff about the military got me confused.

young waveParticipantAs a former AF enlisted, I respect him for having the courage to go through all that. The military can set you up on the right path as far as getting your life on track. But I didn’t reenlist due to not believing in the cause of our military. Much luck to him though. Maybe he will have the same realization about the impierialist army.
