Since the Brooklyn Nets wants to clean house like their next door neighbors, the New York Knicks, I thought of a 3 way trade that would land Joe Johnson on the Pelicans…The 3 teams involved would be the Nets, Pelicans, & Sixers

Brooklyn Nets receives: Eric Gordon, John Salmons, Jason Richardson, & Jeff Withey

New Orleans Pelicans receives: Joe Johnson

Philadelphia Sixers receives: Luke Babbitt & a future second round pick from both teams respectively

    Who does this benefit really?

I guess the Nets are saving about $10 million.

I don’t think the Pelicans get that much better to justify picking up an extra $10 million from Johnson’s salary.

i think the pelicans would rather cross their fingers and hope gordon opts out then take on johnsons’ guaranteed contract.

Joe Johnson is an upgrade to the Pelicans, he can help perhaps seek them in the playoff picture

I agree with the above poster, it’d be very difficult for them to make a move for Joe w/o moving Tyreke AND Gordon in the deal. They can’t afford to give up 4 players for 1 regardless of the skill level of the throw in’s, this team can’t afford to lose depth that they already don’t have.

Joe absolutely would be a better fit for them than Gordon is at this point, but there’s virtually no way to make it work financially because of Joe’s cap #

I don’t think the deal is the outrageous. The fact that the Pelicans traded for Jrue and signed Tyreke shows that they want to win now. Joe Johnson is still a savvy veteran who plays well in the crunch…. I don’t think that the Pelicans should lose any more draft picks for him but I could see it happening.

If the Nets move him and get Gordon and Richardson in return they need to get at least one draft pick. Shedding cap isn’t that valuable for Brooklyn.

….and hopefully none of these guys have possible gang ties : )
