Chris Broussard reports on twitter there are rumors about a potential trade that would bring Brook Lopez to OKC, Lance Stephenson to Brooklyn and Jeremy Lamb/Jarrett Jack to Charlotte.

    https://twitter.com/Chris_Broussard/status/555918627980214275

So OKC gets Lopez almost for nothing, as Lamb is barely in their rotation. I recently had a discussion on this forum regarding OKC, stating they needed some kind of low post presence for when outside shots weren’t falling (which to other guy disagreed upon btw). Very curious to see how this will work out, and whether Lopez will provide that ‘other’ dimension to their team which I think they really need to get them over the hump.

For Charlotte this is purely about cutting their losses, getting actually two decent players in Jack and Lamb in return (I believe Jack could serve as a nice complement to Walker in a two-PG line-up).

Stephenson in Brooklyn however is an accident waiting to happen. By now it should be obvious being in the spotlight and under pressure brings out the worst in Lance, and him playing in his hometown of New York will be exactly that.

Looks like the Thunder will be giving up Kendrick Perkins as well – if this trade does go through

No brainer upgrade on paper, but that’s a lot of offensive mouths to feed…

Looks like the Hornets have pulled out of the deal.

It’s a salary dump basically for the Nets.

I don’t know how I feel about it for OKC. Lopez can’t stay healthy, plus Brooks can’t coach well enough to figure out something great offensively.

I would say it is a no lose situation for OKC. Realistically, what do they get out of Perkins that they couldn’t get out of proably at least 20 other backup centers in the league? It’s not like they play Lamb.

I assume the rumors are true about the Nets being prepared to be sold. Looks like they are trying to offload all their bad contracts and doing this will only make it easier.

Especially if Lopez is willing to come off the bench and anchor the 2nd unit, the way James Harden once did.  I still believe Adams, with his screening, offensive rebounding and physical post play, should start.  But Lopez would be a huge upgrade over Perkins and would fit well, as OKC’s offensive "system" stresses individual scoring, so the team needs all the scorers it can get.

Teams in the top half of the Western Conference playoff race should think about "tanking" games to the Suns.  Can’t let OKC get in.

The Nets mortgaged their future on trading for PP and KG. Next season it looks like the team will have to be rebuild around D-Will and possibly Joe Johnson who will then be in the last year of his deal.

Lopez will give the Thunder a great offensive scoring option and would fill the role indirectly Perkins played with a few of the other bigs giving up some playing time for him.

The Thunder will have added two very good players in recent weeks in Lopez and Waiters and will not have given up much to do so.

+1 to Swim for the two ball joke, the previous request fopr league dispensation was turned down in 2008 when AI and Melo were both in Denver. Apparently it is known as the "JaVale McGee rule", his basketball IQ is so low that he struggles to follow one ball let alone two!

Looks like Brooklyn is unwilling to move Lopez now. Seems a bit strange.

The deal is off for now…but the most telling thing is this trade coupled with the Waiters deal would certainly make OKC a tax paying team this year. Their ownership is finally showing some urgency. It’s a clear sign of desperation as they know if they miss the playoffs this year KD is gone next summer.

KD in 2016 will be a major FA who could go to a number of teams. Washington keep being mentioned but could they fit Durant into the cap with Wall, Gortat and Beal I wonder. Nene will have expired in 2016 but if they resigned him for less, he’d still command a decent fee and be the sort of player a team like Washington may need.

Also is Wall any better running mate than Westbrook I wonder?
