BubbaChuckParticipantI would love if the Sixers manage to trade MCW for a first round pick. With that pick and the Heat’s pick that should be a midrounder they should trade up and get Stanley Johnson. With their own pick they get Mudiay. Then the Sixers look like this:
Mudiay (a higher cieling than MCW… think John Wall)
KJ (Air McDaniels)
S. Johnson (3&D with Artest like toughness potential)
Noel (possibly the best defender in the league in 2-3 years)
Embiid (THE franchise player)
Saric (glue)
Covington (Mr. 3)
Wroten (Mr. offensive energy)
Aldemir (Mr. defensive energy)This team would have a ridiculous amount of defensive potential, with all of your starting 5 (except for Mudiay) being way above average on defense.
The bench has a player for any scenario. I’m ecstatic just thinking of the pottential. What do you think? Could & should this happen?

BubbaChuckParticipantBTW I forgot to mention how nicely Mudiay, Embiid and Stanley Johnson can complement eachother offensively

gopack10ParticipantI think the issue with this deal is what you are giving up for Johnson. I think he’s a solid player and will have a nice career at the next level but you are essentially giving up MCW and that Heat pick for Johnson.
Why not keep MCW, take Johnson with your own pick and then bring in a guy like Willie Cauley-Stein, Jerian Grant, Bobby Portis or Sam Dekker with that pick from the Heat. I’d much rather have a combination of those three than just Johnson and Mudiay.

BubbaChuckParticipantThat’s a good point you make. But I’d still rather have Mudiay instead of MCW. He just seems like a more talented player. As for getting extra players that could fit- the Sixers already have so many assets that can be good role players if they discover their pottential like Saric, Covington, Aldemir, Jordan Mcrae (who’s leading Australia in PPG and is a 6’5 with a 7’0 wingspan!!), Wroten and Kazemi and will undoubtedly get more in this upcoming draft’s 4 second round picks they have. So what they need is some real star talent that can lead the team. At the moment that is only Embiid. Mudiay could be the second one.

Buckets21ParticipantI don’t think the pick the sixers could get for MCW to package with the Heat pick would be enough to move up to draft Stanley Johnson based on where many mocks have him going. Also that is a pretty bad shooting lineup, Johnson is shooting pretty well for Arizona this year, but if your outside shooting is coming solely from Stanley Johnson you are in trouble. I’ll give it to you that it could be a very intimidating defensive lineup.
Also I am very confident that Noel will not be the best defensive player in the league in 2-3 years

BubbaChuckParticipantFirst of all, thanks for the response.
Second, you’re right, it wouldn’t be a good shooting team at first, but I think that Embiid & S. Johnson both have a good touch, KJ has shown flashes of hitting the 3, and Mudiay is a better creater than MCW. And unlike Wroten, he’s a pass first PG. In this case Noel, would be the big liability in the starting 5 offensively, but he’s so great defensively that it would make up for it. With all the rookies on the Sixers Noel is still the youngest player on the team, and already at age 20 he’s ranked 8th in the league in Defensive Box Plus/Minus. He has three things that you can’t teach: length, quickness & instincts. He’s also ranked 5th in opponents fg% from 0-3 feet. He’s actually underated defensively, since all the talk about him is that he’s too skinny, and because of his miserable shooting.

Mad MaxParticipantI negged you because Noel is not going to ever be the best defender, so don’t even try to convince me otherwise

SpartanGloryParticipantAnd you know that how? At least he actually had stats/facts to back up what he’s saying. Noel very well could be a top 3 defender in the league within the next few seasons. He’s just a kid playing against men and he’s making an impact on the defensive end.

The Scare Crow RisesParticipantI think McW will be alright, he just needs time to develop and shooters to space the floor…
I like the idea of Drafting the BPA with our pick…
I’d target Okafor at 1, Mudiay at 2 and Johnson at 3 (Although I’d take a long look at K.A.T or Obure too)
Whoever we get to pair with McW/Wroten in the backcourt has to be able to spread the floor, so I would target Hezonja and Levert with the Miami pick(I’d even use several 2nd round picks and future assets to find our Sg or Sf in the Lottery)
So that leaves us with a future core of…
PG
MCW (I am very open to signing Goran Dragic or Eric Bledsoe and trading McW at that point)
SG
Mario Hezonja or Caris Levert (Miami pick+) with Tony Wroten as 6th Man
SF
McDaniels for another year(Ben Simmons in 2016???)
PF
Jahlil Okafor or Karl Anthony Towns(Top 4 pick) and Dario Saric
C
Joel Embiid and Nerlens Noel splitting time to ease the stress on their developing bodies
I think the 76ers would be very happy with a deep frontcourt and I hope they plan on using some of their Cap Space this summer(Bledsoe/Dragic/Butler???)
