TRC1991Participanthttp://espn.go.com/boston/nba/story/_/id/12143725/boston-celtics-ship-ne… Brandan Wright’s Celtic career was cut short today as Danny Ainge shipped him to Phoenix for a somewhat confusing draft pick situation.

HitsterParticipantAinge has turned Wright into another possible first rounder so a decent move. As a Suns fan though I don’t see Wright getting that many minutes with the Morris twins, Miles Plumlee and Alex Len taking up the majority of frontcourt minutes especially with Len playing a bigger role recently.
But it gives us depth and hopefully Wright gets a look in given his decent form in Dallas until the Rondo trade.

trelos6ParticipantThis pick will materialize if the Wolves are good enough in a years time to just miss playoffs. I highly doubt that.
In other words, Ainge is getting ready to package draft picks to grab some big names via trade.

phila9012ParticipantYeah the celtics are getting 2 early second rounders. Which can still be somewhat valuable. As a timberwolves fan I understand it will probably take 2 or 3 years for us to be in contention for the play offs especially with how hard the west is right now. 2 second rounders for wright who they don’t really need is a good deal

Chilbert arenasParticipantSuns have a good amount of young talent and the pick is so protected it’s a great deal for Suns. Phx doesn’t need anymroe rookies taken late in the first round and Wright will protect the rim much better than Morris Twins and Plumlee.

CU.LIONSParticipantBoston gets the Wolves 1st rder top 12 protected for 2 years. But if the Wolves land another top pick this year and Rubio come back healthy with Pekovic. They may very well surprise next season. I think Ainge did pretty good getting some more assets for a player with an expiring contract. Not sure how much Wright will play in Phoenix, but they are making a push for the playoffs in a very tight Western conference.

HitsterParticipantI assume Danny Ainge is doing full rebuild via draft, he tried that before and it never quite worked although he drafted good players like Al Jefferson and he had to flip it into the Big 3 in 2007.
When Boston moved on KG and PP, I always assumed Ainge would maybe have a year in the lottery, get a good prospect to compliment Rondo and the supporting cast and then look to sign a top FA and possibly flip a few picks and pieces for a 3rd star or maybe a support type player.
