I know many of us are skeptical that the NBA lottery has been fixed in the past. My personal favourite is the Patrick Ewing envelope lottery.

We can’t imagine how much revenue the league is losing by having bad Knicks and Laker teams, and this year both teams get to keep their pick. (Top 5 protected in Lakers case).

Is it just me…..or is this lottery ripe for an old fashioned fixing?

How shocked would you be if the Knicks drew #1 – Okafer, and the Lakers drew #2 – Mudiay?

After last year, when Boston and LA both did not crack the top 5 and even slipped, I actually would be surprised with that outcome. Though I do believe the league does not want to reward Philly with the first pick, if you want to still believe in a rigged system. If you want to get crazy, one could wonder if maybe the league knew LeBron was going home/he told someone, so they got that first pick to CLE to create something more there insuring their playoff chances and quickly (not that it’s working out that way).

The NBA is a billion dollar business. Yes it is fixed to increase profit. Bulls get home town kid Rose in 2008 with a 1.7 percent chance. Lebron leaves, 2011 Cavs win with 2.8 percent chance. Cavs win in 2014 with a 1.7 percent chance. Now Lebron returns with lots of young potetntial superstar talent to try and win the Clevland Cavs championships over the next 5-7 years. Sounds like quite the narrative to sell.

i don’t think the sixers are going to win either the knicks ,bos, minn, cha or the pacers are going to win.

these are them teams who need to win it the most so the league will give it to them they don’t care about philly.

The Knicks were in the top 10 in both 2008 and 2009 but never got a top 3 pick and last year the Lakers missed out on a shot at one of the top 3 so I don’t quite buy into the fix but it is alwaysa fun debate.

As a Phoenix fan can it be fixed so Lakers come 6th and we get the pick?

So sick of this. You can make up stories and narratives for every single team as to why the NBA would want to get them the top pick and thus it is rigged.

There is just so many obvious reasons it is not rigged it always makes me confused how people can honestly believe a multi-billion dollar scandal is happening and somehow the only people who are aware of it are fans on the internet.

This^ A thousand times this. Literally every lottery team has as solid reason for the league "rigging it" for them.

No. Although it’s fun to believe these types of things, there’s just too much risk of getting caught and not enough reward to justify the risk. Also, I can’t imagine such a conspiracy happening without the consent of all of the NBA owners, and I can’t imagine all of the NBA owners consenting to such a scheme.

Confirmation bias. It’s easy to think the draft is rigged if you remember only the ‘suspect’ results and forget all the others.

It should be pretty easy to show the system is fixed. Any statistician out there?

no one can tell me the cavs getting kyrie wasn’t rigged. A year after you lose LeBron you win kyrie with the 9th pick? then two more number ones somehow one of those was rigged point blank. We are acting like ppl never broke rules and there was never sports scandals by the organization and front offices.

Actually the Cleveland results have made me even more sure that it is not rigged. In statistics you always have those anomalies. Plus, getting 3 1st in 4 years is really shows it is not rigged. If it were rigged the NBA would have given the Cavs to 1st pick in 2011, but it makes no sense that would they rigged it again to give them another 1st in 2013 and 2014.

and as I stated A YEAR AFTER LOSING LEBRON THE CAVS WIN KYRIE IRVING then win 2 MORE NUMBER ONE PICKS.

yes it does make sense LeBron revoultionzed the basketball market in Cleveland a small market became huge as a bigger metropolitan etc

the cavs were making so much money off of jersey sales, national tv shows, also local clev business boomed because of LeBron and a winning team.

when he left a lot changed.

the nba didn’t want to lose what LeBron started in clevland that’s WHY WE THINK ITS RIGGED.

no one knew LeBron would comeback
it seems as if the nba tried to put cle back on the nba map an tap into that market that was cut tremendously when LeBron left.

IF they are riggin’ it… Hopefully, they’ll hook up the Pacers this year lol. Maybe Adam Silver feels bad about the PG injury lol.
