The latest mock has Towns slipping from 3rd to 6th at Charlotte. Most agree Okafor is a guy you draft regardless of need, but is Mudiay in that catagory? I think the Wolves would benefit most with trying to develop Towns at PF than drafting another guard. Rubios on for another 3 1/2 years and Lavine/Wiggins/Muhammad have all looked promising this year.  I also would grab K-AT w Detroit’s pick at 4. Towns is no Monroe 2.0 with different size and skills. He isn’t the stretch 4 Myles is, but that doesn’t mean he won’t play well with Drummond. So why not take the better prospect?

I guess this all hinges on whether GMs think he can play the 4 in the NBA, but early returns at UK look promising.

I completly agree with you. You take Towns over Mudiay. I would even take Turner over Mudiay. Just a better fit for their team.

But if you are NYK, LAL, PHI, or DET you have to consider taking Mudiay and hoping he develops into a "John Wall type" franchise PG.

The mock draft on this site is a big board. Team needs have not been factored in yet, and won’t be until the actual draft lottery order comes out. So even though this site has Towns going to Charlotte at 6 does not mean Towns is the best player for that team. It is simply a big board, the team logos beside each pick mean nothing right now because team need has not been factored in yet.

I do agree though, Towns shouldn’t have slipped. In my mock my top 3 are Mudiay, Towns, and Okafor in any particular order. Right now Okafor is at the top followed by Towns and Mudiay, only because I think New York is in need of Okafor, a guy who can develop along side Melo and be what Stoudamire was supposed to be before he became washed up. I have considered Mudiay and I do think he would work for the Knicks too. I then have Towns going to the Wolves for basically the same reason you stated, and lastley Mudiay going to the Sixers because they have a ton of bigs and don’t really need anymore. They more need a guard alongside MCW.

I agree with you, I don’t see any reason what so ever that Turner can be justifiably ahead of Towns… on any Big Board, whether taking team needs into consideration or not… it’s bad.

I would only put Turner in front of Towns if I needed a PF. I’m assuming Towns will be a center. If I already had a great center, I’d get Turner. He can shoot SO well (the FT% is a nice give away). He’s got NBA 3 range and he can block shots. He’s perfect for today’s PF. Now he just needs a few pounds and to toughen up.
