raybeasParticipantAfter blowing in David West’s face, after his “fake” bite attempt at Noah, after numerous shots to the junk of opposing players, etc., I have to ask…how mature is Kevin Garnett?
His bio says he’s 38 years old, and you can say it’s his competitive fire coming out, but you can’t tell me any other adult who wouldn’t get called a clown if they acted like that. Lance has done some pretty immature things, but he’s 24.
My respect for Garnett has been going downhill ever since I heard he wouldn’t even talk to Ray Allen after he signed with Miami, but antics like he has shown this year and dirty plays from the middle to end of his career have really brought him down in my opinion. His numbers and ring are undeniable, but a guy I used to admire has dropped onto the “do not like” pile for me.0 - Posted on: Sun, 12/28/2014 - 10:37am #960347

DolanCareParticipantLance isn’t immature because of the ear-blowing. He’s immature because of what he does on the court- horrible shot selection, gambling on defense, over dribbling and ungodly turnovers. KG always plays for the team and is ready to come off the bench if need be.
I’ll always respect KG for going 100 every geame for those awful Minnesota teams.

joe2324Participant"but he’s 24" Come on, that is the worst excuse for immature behavior. He’s not a kid, he’s an adult. That excuse should only be used when dealing with 12 year olds and under, not 24 year olds.
No_left is right, his on court antics are what makes him immature. Lance is a dumb, impulsive, low IQ retard whos right up there with JR Smith, but at least he plays with heart. Charotte made a horrible decision signing him. The pacers had a system set up to keep him somewhat under control. The only other team that could probably control him is San Antonio, but thats it.
When you have a resume as strong as KG, you pretty much get a pass in my book for some of his antics lately. KG is one of the greatest power forwards to ever play the game. I’d rank him in the top 5 easily.

IndianaBasketballParticipantI won’t say KG is immature, but he definitely has started using more of these tactics/mind games as he’s gotten older. It got West a technical and the Nets a free-throw, so I guess it worked.
I was just happy it didn’t turn ugly. West has a short fuse and isn’t that guy to play with.

tuck243ParticipantSmacking Tim Duncan in the back of the head? His antics are worse than Lance.
KG was just the better player so people chalk that up as "trash talk" or part of the game.. With Lance it’s hard to like him sometimes because he pouts so much. Then you add shooting poorly, he has no room to be doing any of that…
FYI… I find it funny when people bring up KG and those Minny teams.. Awful? Are you kidding me? I watched KG go 10 straight possessions in a playoff game without touching the ball (I counted when the game was actually on and I have it somewhere on VHS). All that rah rah crap he does is for show. Dude never had heart when it counted until that one year he went to the Western Conference Finals. Outside of that, his playoff shooting percentages were poor… He turned the ball over alot… Never really tried to carry the offensive load in consecutive playoff games.. The role in Boston suited him well. He was the Beta to Paul Pierce’s Alpha…
He was the Vince Carter of the Western Conference to me… Damn near unguardable and missing the "it" factor to take over when it mattered the most…

Jr. ROXASParticipantAre you kidding me? You saying that the only time KG DID have heart was when he made the WCF. Funny because that was the time he FINALLY had a good supporting cast with Cassell and Sprewell. Don’t base a player’s heart and passion off a team’s wins man. In the years before Cassell and Latrell, he had guys like Owalakandi and Szcerbiak as 2nd and 3rd options. Management screwed up big time too acquiring bust Joe Smith but wasting a ton of pivks in the process. Don’t tell me he had a good supporting cast. I think only Terrell Brandon was of good help to KG back then.
Maybe KG’s game isn’t suited to be a number one option but please don’t discount a 25, 15, 5, 1.5 and 2 SEASON. Boy had heart, and frirst of all, you don’t win MVPs and DPOYs if you don’t have heart man.

tuck243Participantbut his percentages in the playoffs were trash… I called him the Vince Carter of the West… If you go look at Vince’s numbers in the playoffs or yearly they were high too… Both were superstars with a ton of potential… It’s a story where the Olympic team was playing full court one on one… KG was unstoppable… No one could check him… Think about it… A guy that can defend, pass, shoot, dominate in the low post, run the floor like a guard at 7 feet… That’s almost video game type right there. I don’t think we’ve seen a better overall skill set and length from any NBA player in history… I brought up his lack of heart because with that talent he should be an Alpha dog… Which he wasn’t… Same as Vince Carter…
Those weren’t all the way bad teams and most NBA teams had 1 superstar and 1-2 borderline All-Stars on their roster back then… Wally wasn’t trash like you trying to claim he was… Trash players don’t make the All-Star team in the West at Forward… He had legit players on his team… The one year he won MVP he actually played like he had some heart and they went all the way to the WCF… His DPOY should’ve went to Dwight Howard, but at that point they had to give a Boston player something… He wasn’t the Alpha dog in Boston either…
KG’s personality never matched his game to me… You can’t go 10 straight possessions losing in a playoff game and don’t call for the ball… It’s fawked up that yall give him a pass when what he does is legit BS… Smacking Tim Duncan in the head is BS… You shouldn’t touch anybody like that… Telling Tim happy Mother’s Day when you know his mother died… Telling Melo his wife’s vaglna tastes like Honey Nut Cherrios… Or telling Charlie Villanueva he looks like a cancer patient… That’s bull shit he gets a pass, but Lance is the bad one…

joe2324ParticipantIf we’re talking antics, Barkley and Shaq were two guys that did some silly stuff on the court, but these guys are proven winners just like KG. Putting Lance in the same sentence as KG is just flat out wrong.

CynthiaParticipantKG has done this stuff his entire career, you probably just notice it more now because he’s not scoring 20ppg anymore.
Is it immature? Maybe a little, but it seems to work more times than not.
There’s a difference in doing antics as part of a mental mind game, and doing antics because you’re a knucklehead(Stephenson).

tuck243Participanta mental game? Like you don’t see how you just contridicted yourself? So if Lance was a "Superstar" it’s then ok? Make sense of that…
