Howard and Harden must be extremely happy with Morey right now. Everything Daryl promised has been given to Harden at this point unless they were looking for three superstars but I think 2 is enough to build around.

Not only has he replaced Chandler with Ariza and Smith but he makes very good low key additions like Corey Brewer and Alexy Shved and always drafts, finds, and develops talent into capable role players. Beverley, Canaan, Johnson, Motie, Papa, and T. Jones have been some great finds and should be easy to retain longterm as they develop. They also use the D-League as a definite role model for other teams in the league to follow and copy.

I’m going on the record saying Smith will thrive in Houston and after adding Shaved, Brewer, and Smith they are now deep.

Throughout the remainder of their current contracts I would say its Championship or bust for those guys. They have to win they’ve got no excuses. All it comes down to now is if they really are the best.

Tarik Black is another late in the draft guy that’s been good for them, Houston has drafted really well in recent years.

Black was undrafted but I do agree that houston has been finding good late draft picks like parsons, budinger, Landry(traded for him), and Canaan has shown some promises. The only team that I can think of that didn’t tank to get significantly better. Morey is a beast.

The Harden signing seemed like luck, and so does this Smith signing. But I’m learning that all team success involves a little bit of luck. It’s how you capitalize on situations- and that’s what Morey does. Presti was shopping Harden to avoid the tax, meanwhile Morey is sitting on a load of assets.

Maybe the Smith signing was just being lucky, but he obviously was able to seal the deal which is something that should never be underestimated. All in all he’s made a monster team without long term sacrifice.

Houston still have assets too.  Jason terry is an expiring contract, maybe Kostas P because of a team option, combine them in a trade and the Rockets could bring in someone making 10 to 12 million.

Plus maybe one of T Jones and DoMo goes due to being someone with value and because of available minutes with J Smith there in their position.

Harden and Howard have nearly everything they need, except for a giant veteran backup center.

Why would Harden be happy with Josh Smith signing ? Brewer was a excellent pickup.

Smith came off the bench in his first game and jacked up more shots than Harden…this just shows just how selfish he is

why the the thumbs down on this comment, who cares if houston won. fact is josh smith fired up like 22 shots in 20 minutes. smith is garbage and the rockets r screwed. Team chemistry is a delicate balance in sports and introducing a negative factor like Josh Smith can ruin a team. It has a subtle way of rubbing off on everyone on the team. I promise the Pistons are going to be  1000 times better off without Smith. They won’t make the playoffs, but the entire team is in better shape for the future.
