LindseyParticipantAs a Raptors fan, Im really excited for this draft this year because I feel like we’re just a step or two away from being a legit contender in the east. I know we’re doing well this year the main thing holding us back is going to be rim protection and athleticism in the 4/5 posistions. Amir is getting old/lost a step, and valanciunas is a nice guy to hopefully feature as an iso scorer, but having a pest flying around the rim, blocking shots and switching the pick androll effectively would complement him hugely.
in the late first round who do you see as being able to fill that role? I would chalk up the 2016 ecf if we get WCS from Kentucky, but i think hes showing out for the lottery. Who else fits that bill, and in that area of the first round??

Jdean24ParticipantRobert Upshaw oh Washington will get a look from the Raptors more them likely. 6’11 with a good wingspan and devolving post game. Might be a reach around 22-26 which is probably where they Draft but outside of WCS I’m not sure there’s a lot of great options. Harrell from Louisville would be a steal if available but I’m not sure he falls that far either.

OhCanada-ParticipantDakari Johnson.
I’m not a huge fan of Dakari but he fits the description of a backup true 5 which Toronto doesn’t have now or developing.
He has great size and respectable and increasing mobility for his size. He isn’t clumsy and mechanical like a lot of players his size. He has good touch and good footwork and has shown to be able to shoot mid range although needs a lot of work on the offensive end.
Now he has not truly mastered any of his skills consistently but he has shown to "potentially" be able to bring those skills into play and he has shown to be well coached, coachable, and hardworking. He also has proved he can play a simple role and not try to be a hero.
I think within the Raptors organization he fits in from a team chemistry, need, and personality perspective. I think he would be able to continue developing well in Toronto.
