NardDog NationParticipantThe Bulls intend to become favorites for a title, while the Knicks desperately need to rebuild. It seems that both teams could benefit from a trade with one another given their predicament. The deal should send Carmelo Anthony, Jose Calderon, Iman Shumpert and Quincy Acy to the Bulls while bringing Derrick Rose, Doug McDermott, Jimmy Butler and Nikola Mirotic to NY.
The Bulls would get their top target last offseason, Carmelo Anthony, who could be a boon for a team that goes through spouts where they have difficulty scoring. The PG position would be soldified with Jose Calderon who is an excellent floor general, boasting some of the most efficient stats in the league at the position and who is also friends with Pau Gasol. Iman Shumpert is a downgrade from Jimmy Butler but has seemed to turn a corner offensively this season and has always been one of the better wing defenders in the league.
The Knicks would have to assume deadweight in Derrick Rose’s contract but will have jump started their rebuilding process with McDermott, Mirotic and Butler. They could continue to tank this season and put themselves in a great position to draft a Jahlil Okafor, which would be a boon in their favor.
Thoughts.

ChewyParticipantCarmelo clearly wanted to stay in New York with the money and Phil. He had his chance to come to CHI. Both Mirotic and Dougie are playing solid rotation minutes. Gasol is the first good PF we have had since we traded away Brand.
As long as this team can stay healthy, they are championship contenders without Melo.
I am not giving up any of our depth to get a volume one on one scorer who didn’t want to sign with us a few months earlier.
And finally, Derrick Rose is untouchable. A home grown MVP playing for his homtown. He will never be traded. EVER!

why? i appreciate loyalty, but what has rose done to deserve blind loyalty from chicgao? he hasnt won anything and hasnt been around long enough to make a long lasting mark. Plus he makes comments about not being sore in business meetings 20 years from now is more important then playing through pain now.

ChewyParticipantthat we signed in free agency? Considering our market, it has shocked me all my life how we couldn’t sign a superstar via free agency.
Also, Derrick is an unguardable game changer. He will make everyone better in a free flowing passing offense that we can use with Noah and Gasol being great passing big men. This is a guard who won a state championship and only scored 2 points in the game! Kid only cares about winning. That is someone I bet my franchise on, injury history be damned.

NardDog NationParticipantYeah, Derrick Rose is untouchable alright. No one is going to willing take on a max contract attached to a guy that has effectively missed 2 consecutive seasons. He’s this generation’s Anfernee Hardaway but is far less skilled. It sucks to admit but Rose will never be anything more than a bit player, especially if he refuses to play hurt or aching like his recent comments suggest.

Reptilian MonkParticipantI actually LOL at this trade. Knicks get way to much and no need to break up one of the favorites in the East to reach the Finals.

NardDog NationParticipantThe Bulls aren’t beating the Spurs or a healthy OKC team. I also have my doubts that they could beat the Mavericks or Warriors who can stretch the floor to such extent that it can remove Noah from the paint and make their defense more pourous. And then there are the well documented stagnations in the Bulls’ offense, which becomes an even bigger problem in the playoffs since teams have 7 games to tailor their defense. Carmelo solves that problem in a big way, while a guy like Calderon is an excellent offensive role player that stretches the defense, creates opportunities for teammates and does not turn the ball over…hardly ever.

qDizzle32ParticipantI wish there was a way this website could forever ban trade ideas. Although they do make me feel good about myself sometimes, when I feel like I’m not as smart as others.

JordanC20ParticipantHonestly with Rose being injured all the time the only team that would want to take on him and his contract is the Bulls…wouldn’t surprise me if he’s out of the league as soon as 3 years.
