Above is the article. If you all remember last year before the season, Ryan Anderon’s girlfriend commited suicied. I remember hearing about it but it never gained much traction as a story. The SI article does a great job going in depth showing how painful it is loosing someone to suicide, and the ability it has spread and effects other but also bring others closer. As someone who has suffered from depression since I was a child and still do, and have thought about suicide and had a brother commit suicide, it really hits home to me. Mental illness is something that the majority of our country (and the world for that matter) really don’t focus on because it’s a thing people don’t want to bring up, plus there aren’t obvious symptoms like a physical illness. You might see that someone is depressed and know why, but even for those close to someone it’s hard understand and have true 100% compassion and sympathy for because nobody’s minds work the same as anyone else’s, just like a fingerprint each one is different. It’s very complex to say the least.

Ryan Anderson has always been a player I really liked, and the Pelicans were probably my favorite team (Kentucky native and fan of Davis), but after reading this Anderson is someone I’ll always be rooting for to continue to succeed as he has done so far in his career. As a player Anderson is a bit underrated and underapriacted, he’s great as a 6th man on the Pelicans, but no mistake he would start on just about any team in the NBA. Anyways, thought I’d share this if you haven’t seen it.

     BO-Lieve,

I commend you for your battle with Mental Illness, it is something that a number of folks will never understand, and hopefully will never have to battle with as it is usually an uphill battle. I really, truly appreciate every bit of your honesty in that post. I don’t know if I have ever seen such an honest post on this website. I hope nothing but the best for you.

I couldn’t agree more with the sentiment on Ryan Anderson. Everything he has been forced to deal with (injury, girlfriends suicide), he has been exceptional this season. His story is certainly one that would be interesting to hear.

I am an advocate for a group known as SAMHI, in the CIS, which advocates for student athletes mental health. The founder is a survivor of sucide attempts and cerainly tries to advocate for others who feel similar ways as she did. I will always have an unbelievable amount of support for those who battle with mental illness.

has come the age of gossip and unprofessional writing from unprofessional writers. People like TMZ, referenced in the article, get all the hits, likes and shares nowadays.

It’s nice to see some writers and publishers take the time to understand the story and write a thought provoking piece instead of participating in the childish race to be the "first" to break a story/
