r377ParticipantAnthony Davis has a good chance of finishing in the top 5 for points, rebounds, steals and blocks.
Who & when was this feat last achieved ?

ItsVictorOladipoParticipantThe Dream’s a good guess but I don’t think he ever did TBH. Even when he was putting up around 2 SPG the top 5 guys in the league were putting up 2.5+ SPG. Back in the late 80s and 90s you had to be putting up over 3 BPG and 2.3 SPG to be in the top 5 of the league, nowadays that’s not the case.

dcaseParticipantIt has never been achieved. Blocks and steals didn’t become an official stat until the early 1970s. Since then no one has finished with season averages in the top 5 for all 4 categories (rebs, pts, stls, blocks).
As far as the dream goes…when he finished close to the top 5 in steals (#6) he was outside of the top 5 in scoring (10th).

Mr. HookShotParticipantOlajuwon never made it; in fact, he was never in the top 5 in steals for his career (although he came close in 88/89 when he had 2.6 steals per game and came in 6th). His came very close to achieving top 5 in points, rebounds, steals and blocks in 92/93, when he made top 5 in all career except for steals (13th). He came pretty close though and was during his height one of the most complete and unique players every. Other players who came close to achieving this:
Elvin Hayes (74/75) 23.0 ppg (7th) – 12.2 rpg (8th) – 1.9 spg (10th) – 2.3 bpg (4th)
David Robinson (91/92) 23.2 ppg (8th) – 12.2 rpg (4th) – 2.3 spg (5th) – 4.5 bpg (1st)
Kevin Garnett (03/04) 24.2 ppg (3rd) – 13.9 rpg (1st) – 1.5 spg (19th) – 2.2 bpg (11th)
Shawn Marion (05/06) 21.8 ppg (15th) – 11.8 rpg (3rd) – 2.0 spg (5th) – 1.7 bpg (17th)
Dwight Howard (10/11) 22.9 ppg (11th) – 14.1 rpg (2nd) – 1.4 spg (19th) – 2.4 bpg (2nd)To my knowledge no player has done this in the history of the NBA/ABA. Before 73/74 steals and blocks were not recorded so guys like Russell or Chamberlain are not taken into account here.
About Davis; In order to make the top five in all categories he has to average around the following numbers (average number of 5th place in all categories over last three seasons): 25.0 ppg – 11.3 rpg – 1.9 spg – 2.1 bpg. Most difficult part would be for Davis to keep the scoring and stealing high enough. Barring an injury, I think and hope Davis makes top 5 in those categories and make history.

JoeWolf1Only David Robinson, Hakeem Olajuwon, and Gerald Wallace have averaged over 2 steals and 2 blocks per game since they started keeping track.
I think Davis will easily eclipse the 2 bpg mark, but I’m skeptical he can keep up the 2 spg pace for an entire season.
A guard, Michael Jordan in 1987-88 finished the year
1st in scoring (35 ppg ) 1st in steals ( 3.2 spg ) 16th in blocks ( 1.6 ) but his rebounds were down at 5.8

BogDon_KryptParticipantI meant David Robinson, NOT NATE ROBINSON. I’m super embarassed. It’s easy to confuse the two.

HitsterParticipantJason Kidd was Mr Triple Double but he’d never have got that high up the rpg list I guess. Hakeem sprang to mind when I read the topic title. Thanks to everyone who supplied the detailed stats +1 to you all.
