nick5354ParticipantI think a shout out to Delly needs to be had. I think he is possibly the most underrated defender in the league.
He doesn’t get a whole lot of steals which means his defence goes unnoticed by a lot of fans (steals don’t always mean good defence anyway). He has a great ability to stay in front of his man and read where the defence is going. He also is a very average athlete by NBA standards which make his great defence even better in my book. He has strong fundamentals which compensate for his limited athlete ability.
Delly also pesters opponents, with an ability to fight through screens and force opponents into bad shots or fadeaways.
I remember yesterday against Melo he was caught just outside the paint with Melo backing down. He was able to smartly get into a position to deny Melo access to the ball and a backdown.
Just think Delly needs some credit for his fantastic fundamental defence. He is fast being one of my favourite NBA players.
