Just noticed Elton Brand on the Hawks roster. More power to him hanging on at 35. The guy was tough before he got injured – a consistent 20/10 type guy. It’s a young man’s game and it is a real testament to your professionalism if you are still playing at that age, even if it is near the end of the bench.

Solid rebounder and veteran presence. Will average 5 and 4 this year in 14-16 mpg. Still in good shape, has slowed down a bit, but has value, albeit minimal.

Elton gives the Hawks a nice veteran presence and will play whatever minutes are needed, his salary of $2 million for this year doesn’t burn a hole in their salary cap. He’s been fairly durable the last few years so it’s a good deal for both sides.

Teams always like a quality veteran big guy so someone like Elton still gets decent offers. He’s made his major money so is playing without that pressure now.

The great shame with him was he only played 37 games between 2007/08 and 2008/09 seasons when he must have been near his peak and never quite regained that form.
