nick5354ParticipantI am just watching the NBL and saw a player take an obvious flop. The result was a tech foul on the flopper and a free throw for the team in possession and keep the ball.
Now I never watch the NBL, so I am not sure how long the rule has been in play. These sorts of solutions are used in Europe I am pretty sure.
But why on earth hasn’t the NBA caught on?
It is honestly the simplest solution to a major issue I have seen. NBA players would laugh at the idea of a fine being an adequate punishment for flopping and would not be an adequate deterrent as they have that sort on money in their back pocket.
Am I the only one who is just so confused the NBAs inability to install this rule?

Rip255I was at that game and if I’m not mistaken the same player flopped twice and was ejected. Ive only seen it happen this season its a good initiative that will probably take a season for players to adjust…but they’ll learn. 1 free throw seems a fair punishment.
Josh Childress sighting in that game too. Looked unfit, unmotivated and was also ejected for unsportsmanlike conduct.

BenchWarmerParticipantThey should definitley implement that, its such a disgrace. Orrr take away the charge, there would be no benefit to players falling over like bowling pins on defense. Haha might get outta hand, but how many times do you see people flop in pick up ball?

theprophetParticipanti get what you all are saying, but it’s not an easy rule to install. a player should have a right to sell a foul. there are a ton of fouls that are missed that should be called that the ref might not just have the right angle to see. i know if i’m legitimately fouled and lose a possession because of a non call i’m pissed. but flopping is so frickin’ lame. it’s a fine line. the good thing about pick up ball is that you call your own fouls.
