BogDon_KryptParticipantI know I’ll probably negged for this given how pro Manute Bol this website is, but I don’t think he’s all that. I can name 6 European center on one hand better than him: Vlade Divac, Rik Smits, Arvydas Sabonis, Kwame Brown, and post Lakers Marc Gasol. Of course he’s better than 1st overall pick busts such as Andrea Bargani, Michael Olowokandi, and Adam Pacman Jones, but he was primarily a shot blocker who made the occasional half court shot. Manute Bol couldn’t even beat Tobias Harris in a footrace, let alone the hurdles. And I know a lot of people on this site who compare 1/5 of his game to Anthony Bennett cough cough WOLF (http://www.nbadraft.net/forum/anthony-bennett-12). Here are some interesting facts about Bol (Manute) that prove that he is overrated:
He only blocked 11 shots in a half once
He only blocked 8 shots in a quarter once
He’s never blocked 5 shots in one possession – his closest was 4 against the Chris Webberless Magic on January 31, 1992
Although first in blocks per 48 minutes with 8.6, he didn’t even double the amounts of second place Mark Eaton who averaged 5.8 blocks per 48 minutes.
Despite being 7 foot 7 inches, he only averaged 3 more bpg (3.34 bpg) than Nate "Arbor Day" Robinson (.3 bpg) who is only listed as 5"9 in heels.
He scored less points (1599) than blocked shots (2086), which is pretty sad since most baskets are worth 2 or more points. Blocks are counted one at a time, much like a free throw.
On a personal level, he didn’t even visited half of the countries in the former Yugoslavia, never saw the Cubs win a World Series, started less than 3 small business and was born in a country that is now 2 countries.
Please let me know whether you agree/disagree with my assessment or Manute Bol and give me a valid reason why you have your opinion.

bobbybParticipantManute was probably the greatest "human" to play in the NBA. He dedicated his life to helping his country. He died pennyless. You would never see this today, people are too greedy. A lot players have charities, but they are nothing more than money laundering operation. ( E.G. Lamar Odom’s)

ropeParticipantKwame Brown is an American. Florida, I think. Pacman Jones is a football player. Marc Gasol is not a Laker.
Manute Bol was entertaining to watch and a factor when he was on the floor. One thing people don’t mention much is he actually turned into an occasionally effective three point shooter later in his career. He was really hard to check on his set shot at that height.

BogDon_KryptParticipantYou didn’t read very thouroughly. I said the was known primarily for shot blocking and the occasional half court shot, which last time I checked is worth 3 points. Unless of course you’re fouled in the act in which you would have a potential 4 point play (if the subsequent free throw is made)

ropeParticipantHis three pointers were not half court shots. He wasn’t a great shooter, 2pts or 3, but it was something that he added to his game.
I can’t figure out what you are trying to do here. Attention whore, maybe?

BenchWarmerParticipantHe only blocked 8 shots in a quarter… only… what’s the comparison about anthony bennett… the whole time I read this I was thinking wtf.
My opinion, to put it nicely, is you’re an idiot.
