It was pretty clear to me from day one that he would struggle to get much time until his jr year and that seems to be the case. Last year he could barley get any time and it looks like he will be behind lyles, towns,Johnson and WCS this season, and he should be praying that lyles and Alex work out as small forwards or he really won’t see much time.  Now I wonder if he thinks about transfering if UK gets more bigs for next year and a couple bigs decide to return too school.  What he really needs to do is work with a personal trainer because right now he’s still just long and athletic with below average skill. He can’t score CONSISTANTLY with his back to the basket, no handles, and no jumper.

on the flip side he can continue to hide his weaknesses by playing minimal minutes and showing potential during those minutes with dunks and turn that into a first round draft pick based on potential

     He’s not going anywhere.

His comments in interviews and articles regarding this siutation has been pretty clear – he likes it at UK and is all about the team. Obvously he wants more time but he’s gonna get that chance this season as Calipari uses a platoon.

Wasting a year of eligiblity won’t do him any good as a NBA prospect.

Kyle Wiltijer said the same thing while at UK and he was getting more time so it’s not like this is a off the wall assumption

Theres a difference between the two.

Kyle fell out of favor at UK after his subpar season during the NIT year. He was a defensive liability. With his struggles, he knew playing time would be slim with the great recruting class coming in.

Lee played good in spurts. Cal is trying to get him playing time because of his talent level.

Poythress has been getting run at the 3. Cal is set on having him there to start the season due to the frontcourt depth.

Lyles was playing the 3 in the 2nd platoon recently. Calipari has said he feels he can play the SF at the college level.

All the Mcdonalds All Americans are going to be part of the platoon. Now they have to do their part on making the most of their playing time to hold on to the spot and warrant more minutes.

I agree Calipari has nevet been one to develop offensive minded bigs. Thats why I was upset when Lyles committed to UK. At the PF hr likes versatile 3/4s and at the C he likes either an athletic and long run/jump type 4/5  or an oldschool 5 with a big body.

Also in the platoon system he could end up not being in either platoon. Lyles and Dakari or WCS would be the back up PF and C with towns and one of those bigs being the starting C. Pretty much he needs to hope lyles can play/guard the SF position so he could be in platoon number two as the back up PF or C. Gets even worst if Alex P can’t play the SF position well enough

why transfer?  he’s rated by some as a 1st or early 2nd rounder whenever he comes out….and going against great players in practice will make him much better…

his inconsistent play and his lack of strength which caused him to get pushed around inside is what limited his minutes last season…

Second round according to NBA scouts due to lack of skill but they like his athletic ability, would have a problem making the team though. He could transfer somewhere else and do what those boys are doing at LSU and sneak into the first round, he might have missed his chance those because he will be older which means teams aren’t viewing his potential as high as they did when he was a freshman

Lyles and Poythress will be playing SF exclusively, only small minutes at PF if the c and PF spots as well as Willis the 5th Big are in foul trouble. Which has been stated many times by Coach Cal.

ALL Pf minutes will be split between ONLY K-A-T and Lee, except blowout time with the walk-ons.

Cal wants Lee or WCS on the floor at all times as a shot blocker on defense and pick setters on offense, with KAT or Dakari respectively as post scorers.

ONLY if they prove they can play it. That’s obvious even if cal hadn’t said so. Alex showed last year that he struggles at that positivism and during the bahamas trip he played PF and played it very we’ll. I’m guessing you don’t follow coach cal on his website nor the UK media because some of the things you are saying isn’t what cal has said nor what the UK media, who are at the particles, have been reporting.  Lees minutes are expected to be from 5-10 min and it’s been slowly going to the low end because Willia has looked VERY good in practice. Towns and lyles look great at the 4 and 5 although lyles also looks good on offense at the 3

the key for Lee (which I said before echoing cal and the reporters) is lyles and Alex being able to guard the SF (lyles) and hit open shots/create (Alex) because if that doesn’t happen lees minutes get cut since he’s the least skilled big on the team and the weakest

Marcus ended up being worse than I thought he would be at this point.    What happen to Ian Powers prediction that Marcus is underrated and better/more potential than Jabari Parker?
