I would love to see Austin Rivers succeed in the NBA, but I really don’t think it will be in New Orleans…On the Pelicans he’s buried behind Eric Gordon, J’rue Holiday, & Tyreke Evans. I thought of a trade that makes sense for both Austin & the Pelicans, plus the other team. That other team is the Chicago Bulls. I think the Bulls should trade Tony Snell & Cameron Bairstow, to the Pelicans for Austin Rivers & Jeff Withey. It works financially in the ESPN trade machine. Austin would give the Bulls another shot creator, ball handler, and lane penetrator. The Pelicans free up some of the log jam at the guard position and acquire a floor spacing small forward, with good defensive instincts in Tony Snell. Works out for both teams

I wouldnt give up snell he had a greaet summer league and can defend the wing position. People forget the bulls have AAron brooks that is a great service in the 2nd unit.

Also I have to say that giving up Snell, who as mentioned had a great summer league experience, is not worth Rivers. The Bulls atempted to use Jimmer Fredette and that did not work out well, so I don’t imagine he would be any better on the Bulls loaded roster.

man, i really like snell’s game too.  i don’t think rivers is worth tony snell at this point.  i would really like to see rivers go to the 76ers where he can play next to a big guard like mcw and get minutes.

No one forgot about Aaron Brooks, at least I didn’t…I know every team’s roster like the back of my hand…Okay the teams has Brooks & Rose as their primary shot creators, but injuries happen and history has shown Rose is injury prone so why not take a chance on Austin? Tibs is very familiar with Austin and his family, because he was Doc’s assistant in Boston. There’s times Jimmy, Dunleavy Jr., or McDermott can play the 3 & Austin & Rose or Austin & Brooks can play together in the backcourt. Austin put in a lot of work this off season, adding 12 pounds of muscles and improving his mid range jump shot. He’s explosive and has sick ball handling skills, he’s worth a try. If he pans out and work stays healthy, Rose and Austin can be a nasty backcourt for years to come

I wouldn’t take a chance because I haven’t seen Austin do much of anything in the league just yet, while Snell is already a plus defender and an extremely hard worker. 3 and D players will always be more valuable than bench combo guards

Austin unlike Jimmer can create his own shot. There’s no reason why Austin shouldn’t breakout like how John Lucas 111, Nate Robinson, and DJ Augustin has for the Bulls in Tibs system

The article is referring to the Austin Rivers of old. The league has gotten too impatient with young players, have we not forgotten some of the best scorers in the game like Kobe Bryant, Tracy McGrady, Gilbert Arenas, and etc started off slow…The LeBrons, Melos, and Durants of the World has made people forget some players need time to develop…Austin may also need a change of scenery…Every shot creator who has joined the Bulls, John Lucss 111, Nate Robinson, Marco Belinelli, and DJ Augustin has all thrived under Tibs. I don’t see why Austin can’t either

because they all thrived when Rose was out. Rose will hopefully be having his first healthy season in many years. That means 30 minutes are gone for him. Then your first point off the bench is Aaron Brooks, who is a better shooter, slasher and passer than Austin. so that’s the 15~20 minutes that Rose spends on the bench, then Jimmer will see more time playing the off guard then Austin since he doesn’t need to be dominating the ball to score, just has to get open off cuts. There aren’t minutes for Austin at point like there was with John Lucas, DJ Augustin etc, and he isn’t a good enough shooter to play beside Rose as a two guard.
