valentineqDizzle (props to you) started a thread on Duke’s rotation and I love threads like this. Let’s talk about my beloved Tar Heels. Who do you want/expect to start, what do you see the rotation being, and what are the keys to a good season? I will start (obviously)
Rotation:
PG Paige 20 min/Berry 15 min./Britt 5 min.
SG J. Jackson 15 min/Paige 10 min./Pinson 15 min.
SF Tokoto 27 min/Jackson 10 min/Pinson 3 min.
PF Johnson 25 min/Hicks 15 min
C Meeks 25 min/Johnson 5 min/ Hicks 5 min/Hubert 5 min.James and White get spot up minutes.
I think first off a lot of you will question why I have Britt not playing that much. I think Berry has a strong advantage over Britt in an area that gives him more of an opportunity to see the floor. Berry is known as being a pesky defender. Defending dribble penetration ultimately ended our season and I think we will see we can trust Berry more with that than Britt.
I don’t think our perimeter defense will be that bad this season. Jackson, Tokoto, Pinson, and Berry are all capable at stopping penetration and defending the 3. Where I think we need to see improvement will be post defense. Johnson with added weight, and Meeks with less will hopefully help both of them out. It is a plus that Hicks has been getting his confidence back over the summer. I think he and Meeks could be in conention for most improved player in all of the ACC.
I think Jackson will have to provide us with that complimentary shooter that beside Paige that will help take him out of double teams. Hope he is up for it.

TarHeelRavenParticipantPaige. Justin Jackson, tokoto, Brice, and Meeks are all locks.to start in my opinion. I’m going to predict Britt almost falls completely out of the.rotation for the.much more talented berry. Britt was a 5 star recruit during his freshman or sophomore season in high school, but plunged to 3 stars by his senior.year. berry is just way more talented than Britt and should warrant the back up minutes.to Paige. They need.Justin Jackson to become an outside shooting threat desperately to take some.pressure over at Marcus. It has been well publicized that Carolina didnt get a commit from a knockdown shooter this year after it was thought Rashad Vaughan was a lock to commit some time ago. Justin isn’t a three point.specialist in the mode of.a.Wayne Ellington or pj hairston but he can make shots. JP has supposedly been working on his.jumper this off-season, and while.I don’t see him as being a.3 point threat, I think he can become a solid long-range guy. The key to the heels going from good to possible final four contender will be the play of Isaiah hicks in my opinion. He played out of.position last year but showed.out in the Bahamas exhibition games and looks.ready to make a.huge leap this year. If he can play well of the bench and Desmond Hubert and joel james can provide.defense, rebounding and toughness spelling kennedy Meeks. The heels.could.go very far in the tournament

qDizzle32ParticipantRoy Williams usually prefers to play upperclassmen with limited pro potential over recent McDonalds All-Americans who need a year or two more of college (Dexter Strickland over PJ Hairston). So JP Tokoto will probably start over either Jackson or Pinson (I’d say Pinson). Could also see Joel Berry not playing much with Paige, Britt and even Stilman White returning from his Mormon mission. I didn’t really like Isaiah Hicks last year but supposedly he did really good in the Bahamas and this is supposed to be Brice Johnson’s year, showing if he can be a 1st rounder in this upcoming draft or not. I really liked what I saw from Kennedy Meeks last year, not too sure about his pro potential but love his rebounding ability, he’s an outstanding passer and plays well inside.
I’d go with
Meeks/ (Joel James and Desmond Hubert may split their minutes here)
Johnson/Hicks
Tokoto/Pinson (Get minutes as reserve playing the 3 and 4)
Jackson/Britt (Played in the backcourt at the same time as Paige last year too)
Paige/ Berry (Might really fall behind if Britt’s right hand does well and puts him ahead in the depth chart/Stilman White(Did decent in the NCAA tournament after Kendall Marshall’s injury, but hasn’t played in 2 years)
