BasterdInABasketParticipantPretty slow around this time for basketball news so I’ve done this the last few years around this time .. I’ll tally up the votes and post the previous years numbers to compare year by year which is pretty cool to see. I’ll do shooting guards next, also no double votes either..

FearTheStacheParticipantAre we really choosing Lillard as best young PG? I get that he has less than 2 years in the league but he also came into the league much older, looking better in the process. He’s older than John Wall, who is entering his fourth year in the league.

i’m jus so offendedParticipantThat’s harsh. Some of your questions are current and others refer to the past while some blur both lines. I’ll answer both.
1) Chris Paul and it’s really not close right now.
2) Hardest question for sure. I’ll be the eternal optomist and say D Rose will continue his HOF projectable career.
3) At first I thought Tony Parker or Dragic but after the injury and his after thought year on a terrible team, I think it’s Rondo. Dude at his finest can be a top 3 PG in this league.
4) I really like the kid, especially with his supporting cast now but up to this point, Kyrie’s claim to fame are playground type moments. Crossing up Brandon Knight, 3pt contest win, a few game winners, All Star MVP, Uncle Drew. He still can’t play defense and the attitude questions have been disappointing.
5) I want to say MCW but I am a huge Mudiay fan. I think he will mature through this experience and will eventually be a star. He is big and strong and attacks at all times.
6) If Exum counts, I’d go with Exum. If not, I really like what Elfrid Payton has to offer. He’ll play plenty with Jameer out of town and his defensive ability is exceptional.
7) Westbrook or Rose. Hands down, that’s all. And that’s for now and all time.
8) Right now, I’d go with Steph. He has the ball handling, the passing, and of course the shooting. Elite offensive skills. Of all time, I’d say John Stockton. He is skills and fundamentals are what helped him overcome his physical liabilities.
9) Right now, well if I can’t say CP3, it’s obviously Tony Parker. There’s a video of him talking to Pop, Pop shaking his head yes and then the WHOLE team huddling around Tony as he directs them. Very powerful. All time, it’s Isiah. I mean, that guy got a bunch of a**holes and headcases to join together for a cause and won 2 championships with that cast.
10) I mean, do I really have to say it? Magic plain and simple

festar35Participant1. Best PG right now? Chris Paul, but it is closer than people think. I fully expect Curry to have a massive year and challenge Paul for top spot.
2. Best PG in 5 years? Stephen Curry – He doesn’t rely on athleticism to be effective and I think as he matures he will only get smarter (ala Tony Parker)
3. Most Underrated? Ty Lawson – He has a fantastic all around game, I think he could prove it if he just stays healthy.
4. Most Overrated? Deron Williams – Have never liked him and just think he isn’t as good as people think.
5. Best Young PG? Damian Lillard – Doesn’t need explaning.
6. Best Rookie PG? Marcus Smart – They are all an unknown, but we do know Smart will be able to lock in defensively which is always key.
7. Most athletic? Russell Westbrook
8. Most skilled? Stephen Curry – Kid has some crazy moves.
9. Best leader? Kyle Lowry – He changed the direction of the franchise when he stepped into that role as a leader of the young squad.
10. Best All Time? Magic Johnson

JoeWolf1He’s never shot above 381% from the field, and only played over 60 games 1 full season, and is seeking a max contract.

BoundByInkParticipantSo he can’t shoot. He only ranks among the best in assists and steals, and is a great defender. Players like rubio and love get hated on cause there white in a dominated black sport. You see more white ppl liking black players more then blacks liking white players. Can’t think of any of my friends that like white players.

He’s seeking a max deal next summer, and might just get it. I don’t think he’s worth it, thus making him overrated, but there’s always the race card, smh

IndianaBasketballParticipant1. Best PG right now? Chris Paul – He’s not without criticism, but he doesn’t have any real holes in his game. He has everything you want in a point guard. He does damn near everything at an elite level.
2. Best PG in 5 years? Stephen Curry – Will need to get better defensively, but I think he has a great chance.
3. Most Underrated? Mike Conley Jr – He’s not flashy, but is a very good point guard at both ends of the floor and has become a good shooter. Defensively, he’s very underrated. Also rarely turns the ball over.
4. Most Overrated? Kyrie Irving – I think he’s offensively talented/gifted, but he’s been nominated the Golden Boy despite not really accomplishing anything.
5. Best Young PG (2 yrs or less exp. in league)? Damian Lillard
6. Best Rookie PG? Elfrid Payton – There’s a lot to love about his game and I think he’s on the right team.
7. Most athletic? Russell Westbrook – He may be the most athletic player in the world.
8. Most skilled? Chris Paul – He doesn’t shoot or play as well without the ball as Stephen Curry, but he has literally every point guard move in the book. All of the dribbling, pivots, jabs, hesitations, change of pace, stepbacks, passes, ball fakes, floaters, etc, etc.
9. Best leader? Chris Paul – Both vocally and leading by example. He edges out Tony Parker.
10. Best All Time? Magic Johnson

Andrew1984Participant1. Best PG right now? Steph Curry. He’s capable of one thing that Chris Paul is not capable of; hitting 10 treys and going off for 40-50 on any given night.
2. Best PG in 5 years? Mudiay? Haha, I dunno. I’ll stick with Steph, he’ll be 31 then.
3. Most Underrated? Kendall Marshall. Also, Rajon Rondo has somehow gone from being slightly overrated to vastly underrated in about one year. Out of sight, out of mind, I guess.
4. Most Overrated? MCW and Rubio, although honestly, I don’t think there are that many people rating them especially high, so I think they are closer to being “accurately rated.”
5. Best Young PG (2 yrs or less exp. in league)? The obvious answer is Dame but I’m really high on Dennis Schroeder and Kendall Marshall.
6. Best Rookie PG? As a rookie, it’ll be Elfrid Payton because he’ll start and play a little more than Marcus Smart. That, and Smart isn’t really a pure PG. But (and I know this is not a popular opinion), down the road, I think Kyle Anderson will be the best PG from this class.
7. Most athletic? I think Derrick Rose prior to his injuries was slightly more explosive than Westbrook prior to his injuries.
8. Most skilled? Steph Curry. He’s the epitome of refinement.
9. Best leader? Chris Paul.
10. Best All Time? Stockton and Zeke didn’t have the benefit of being 6-9, so I’d put them a smidgen ahead of Earvin.

gbmantisParticipantPretty slow around this time for basketball news so I’ve done this the last few years around this time .. I’ll tally up the votes and post the previous years numbers to compare year by year which is pretty cool to see. I’ll do shooting guards next, also no double votes either..
1. Best PG right now? Westbrook. For some reason his game gets hated on a lot, but he is an elite 2 way player, and
consistently wins his 1 on 1 matchups against the best PGs in the West. Unlike Paul, he brings his A-game in the playoffs!Honorable Mention: Rose (if healthy)
2. Best PG in 5 years? Rose or Westbrook.
3. Most Underrated? Rondo. His game gets bashed by critics because he lacks the jumpshot, but everything else he does is fantastic. He doesn’t need a jumper to score, and is arguably the best passer in the NBA. Also elite defender. If your team needs defense and passing, there isn’t another point guard I’d rather have running the show.
4. Most Overrated? Chris Paul. He fills up the stat sheet, but I can’t get over how he shrinks in the playoffs.
5. Best Young PG (2 yrs or less exp. in league)? Lillard.
6. Best Rookie PG? Exum.
7. Most athletic? Westbrook/Rose/Wall are all in the same Level 1 tier for me. Everyone else is a step behind.
8. Most skilled? Chris Paul.
9. Best leader? Parker. Floor general, and an extension of Pop’s coaching.
10. Best All Time? Best in his prime, Magic. Best over duration of career, Stockton.
Personal all time favorite: Iverson. He played the 2 for most of his career, but he was a good passer. He just never had any talent around him on the wings to pass it to so he played iso ball out of necessity. I always thought he would have won as many titles as Kobe if him and AI switched teams.

Memphis MadnessParticipantI almost put down Ricky Rubio for the most overrated AND most overrated.
Maybe Kevin Love wasn’t the best guy for him.
NOW, he has Wiggins and LaVine, low expectations and still has guys on the inside like Pek, Dieng, and Thad Young.
If your fantasy team writes off FG% and TO’s then Ricky Rubio should be a guy to look at. Lock down assists and steals with a few points and rebounds.
He can’t shoot, BUT he doesn’t take a TON of shots either. If his FG% improves then his value will go up big time. He only takes 8 a game. a guy like Westbrook shoots a bit better, but 43% ain’t great either AND he puts up 17 shots a game.
Rubio also averages 4 boards and 80% from the line.
Hmm, Rubio sounds like a solid fantasy guy. Among point guards I would put Steph Curry first (he could win you 3’s all by himself), then Chris Paul. Tony Parker for efficiency. Mike Conley as the poor man’s TP. Then, yeah, I would consider Rubio.
Rubio is a potential fantasy sleeper to look out for.
