CanadianGMParticipantLooking at starting lineups, they appear to be evenly matched. The biggest difference is K Love vs S Ibaka but every other position would be a coin toss on who you would prefer to have. Even K Love vs S Ibaka is debatable as some would argue that a premiere rim protector would be more helpful when scoring does not look to be a problem. Plus I believe S Ibaka has better offensive skills then K Love has defensive skills.
PG- K Irving vs Russell Westbrook ( Both 6’3") Toss up but fairly equal
SG- D Waiters vs R Jackson ( similar games) again very evenly matched
SF – L James vs K Durant ( best 2 players in the game)
PF – K Love vs S Ibaka ( probably most lopsided vote but still close, maybe 60/40 for Love)
C- A Varejao vs Perkins/ Hunter ( again very even)
I think this would be the best finals match just because of how evenly matched they are. I see a thrilling 7 game series if Thunder can make it out of the West. It will be interesting to see how Coach Blatt compares to Coach Brooks and see who can get more out of their lineups.

CanadianGMParticipantThat is what they call Steven Adams in Australia. I m totally joking, my bad. Steven Hunter was a journeymen center who played for Magic, Suns, 76ers, Nuggets 2001-2010. Total brain fart on my part. Shart.

festar35ParticipantSteven Adams is from New Zealand, it is like calling an American Canadian or vice versa.

omphalosParticipantI don’t think Russ vs Irving is even. Irving is a TERRIBLE defensive player whereas Russ can be elite, and Russ’ athletic gifts make him Kyrie’s match on the defensive end. I think Russ would destroy Kyrie in a 7-game series.

otdogg1ParticipantI don’t think jackson is as good of a scorer as dion waiters. Shooting guard would be the decision maker in this matchup

RUDEBOY_ParticipantI would take Varajeo any day over Perkins, its not even close…Becuz he can contribute in so many areas….
Westbrook to me as the edge over Irving..Westbrook might be the most competitive and intense player in the league….
Waiters over Jackson..A better playmaker and scorer…

joecheck88ParticipantI think PF is really close. It’s funny because if you traded them straight up for each other, Ibaka probably makes the Cavs better and Love probably makes the Thunder better. Ibaka would be the rim protector the Cavs need while still spacing the floor. Love would space the floor and ignite the break while Adams(maybe still a bit young for the role) could defend the rim and do the dirty work.
Irving isn’t close to Westbrooks level yet. Offensively? Yea it’s close but defensively no way.
Waiters is a better prospect. Jackson plays within the team a lot better though. Waiters is better as a talent but Jackson right now is the better teammate.
Lebron trumps Durant but when the play each other it is a wash. They go at it.
C the Cavs have the slight edge. Andy is a great team defender and much more mobile an active than Perk. In a game between these 2 teams Perk isn’t needed. Perk is still useful for teams like Memphis and Houston with low post scorers.
Good topic. This will be a fun year. I’m just hoping Derrick Roae stays healthy because that would make the perfect year in my book.

Something something basketballParticipantWhat if Cleveland roles out a small ball lineup over the more traditional sets? Love at center and lebron at pf. Create some mismatches as the heat did in past few years? Sure they would be huge problem defensively, but could be scary good offensively.

RUDEBOY_Participanti just read online that espn’s cleveland’s tony rizzo is reporting that big z is attempting a comeback with the cavs if he’s medically cleared..dude is almost 40….he last played for miami in 2010-11..he thinks he has 10 -15 minutes a night to offer…

Memphis MadnessParticipantBad matchup for the Cavs. Luckily they picked up Shawn Marion to battle Kevin Durant.
Andy V is better than K Perk but OKC has lots of depth there with Adams, McGary, and Thabeet.
Even so, it looks like a DREAM Finals matchup. Ironically, both are "small market" teams.

goddagParticipantCLEV, don’t put yourself in the finals yet. This team hasn’t played a game together yet and OKC has been together for a lot of years already. This game isn’t played on paper.

TarHeelRavenParticipantYeah, the Irving Westbrook matchup is not enough close in my opinion. Westbrook is one of if not the most athletic points to ever play the game, even though he isn’t really a "true" point guard. Kyrie is an abysmal defender and Westbrook would take him off the bounce at will. Kyrie is a magician with the ball, but I couldn’t see him shaking Westbrook. His quickness his elite, but Westbrook has quickness and athleticism that just isn’t fair and Kyrie would have to run off screens to get open if Westbrook was locked in completely on shutting him down. This is something Kyrie will have to learn to do with Lebron coming in, working off screens and playing off the ball.

Cavaliers420ParticipantKyrie and Westbrook have great battles when they play, but the last two games ive watched them play Kyrie always gets the best of Westbrook. He can beat him off the dribble and defensively Westbrook can’t anticipate what Kyrie is going to do. There’s a video of Kyrie sizing Westbrook up on YouTube and hitting a big 3 in his face, the guys are both great, I just think Kyrie has way more upside. (My opinion)

Memphis MadnessParticipantBig 3’s are about equal.
Both sides have center depth for rebounds and banging.
could come down to LeBron vs. Durant. Who controls the game? Who makes the big stop? Who takes the big shot?

omphalosParticipantStill too soon to call on Lamb as well, he should have a big year for the Thunder with Thabo gone and Morrow not a good enough defender to start, hopefully Jeremy can be given opportunities in the starting line-up to contribute, because he fits best playing alongside Durant/Westbrook, not off the bench.

trelos6ParticipantRose (arguably) > Westbrook, Irving
Butler > Waiters, Jackson
LBJ = KD > whoever Bulls throw out at 3. McDermott anyone?
Love > Gasol > Ibaka
Noah > Varejao > Adams
You could make arguments for all of these.
