thatdude44ParticipantYour comments are completely ridiculous and they indicate you have know idea or common knowledge about basketball! Karl Towns is a highly skilled big that can run the floor. Has decent low moves and is seemingly getting better. His upside is crazy and fact he’s at Kentucky is the perfect marketing move for a player like him. There’s still an entire season to be played which is why scouts and sites have him so high… But you wouldn’t understand that…

Magic JordanParticipantMan handled by Thompson? We must be watching different games. In fact I’m sure we are always watching a different game because you clearly know nothing of hoops.

caray12ParticipantHe’s only 18 and playing little minutes on a team that values veterans playing the bulk of the minutes.
And you don’t build your team based on instant impact. You build your team for what it will be in 3-5 years.

ahuang16ParticipantThe frontcourt rotation is insanely deep. First off you have Cauley-Stein returning and anchoring the defense at the center position. Poythress is a combo forward that is more suited for the power forward position. Then there are two sophomores in both Dakari Johnson and Marcus Lee who are looking to take the next step forward in their development in preparation to hopefully leap to the NBA. Then there is Towns and Trey Lyles, incoming freshman looking for minutes.
In conclusion, while their depth is miles ahead of anyone else in terms of bigmen, it could be detrimental to the stocks of all these guys. Each have their question marks coming into this season and not all will be leaving for the NBA right after this year. Personally I see Towns and Cauley-Stein emerging as the best players out of this group of guys and becoming the twin towers for Coach Calipari.

FearTheStacheParticipantHe looked like a little boy because he is a little boy (18) playing against grown men! You acknowledge Jefferson and O’neal as flashing potential, which they did, but they did so playing against KIDS IN HIGH SCHOOL! Karl Towns played poorly tonight because he’s playing against the biggest, most athletic big men the ENTIRE WORLD has to offer! Also, just a side note, Calipari is not the coach of the Dominican team anymore, so that whole thing is just a moot point. See ya.

imAboutDatActionParticipantHe played limited minutes and the DR team refused to incorporate him in the offense. I doubt he was given the ball more than once on the offensive end.
Lets put things in perspective, Towns reclassifed and should be entering his Sr. year in High school right now. He has the all around offensive skill set. He flashed alot of it during the Bahamas trip.
I wouldn’t put too much stock in his limited play today.
Side note : OP, please learn some grammar.

Hector_Reyes_8ParticipantI refuse to hear “he’s not ready” from a guy who cheers for the 76ers. That entire roster is nothing but young guys who have yet to prove themselves.

Ebown5ParticipantI think Towns is a stud, but is still physically immature. He has great size and skill, but looks like a 15 year old in his face and body. I think he will be a monster in a couple of years.
He has a raw post up game right now, but you can see the potential there, and he is very fluid with the ball in his hands and can shoot it all the way out at least to the college 3. He has great length for the 4 or 5, but is such a good shooter that you could easily see him as a dangerous stretch 4.
For me, I haven’t decided if I put him ahead or behind Cliff Alexander, but I think he is at least a top 4 pick. The only player that I am sure that I like better than him is Okafor.
This upcoming season I will be following him very closely.

BiggysmallsParticipantIs towns a guy who can play 4 in the NBA or is he a pure 5? I’ve seen highlight cut ups which are useless when evaluating a guy because all I see is him dunking. Who is somebody in the league that Towns compares to?

Ebown5ParticipantI think he is a little like Lamarcus Aldridge, but with more shooting range and ball handling ability, and less post up skill. He is just so young though still so it is hard to compare him to a guy in his prime like LA.

JoeWolf1You are aware the draft is about a year away, right?
Towns will practice, train and learn from one of the best NCAA programs for this entire next season, in which he will play against bigger, stronger, and more skilled opponents on a daily basis, and play in over 30 NCAA games.
This game against team USA was a great learning experience, as is being involved in the DR’s national program. Regardless if you’re sold on him or not, by the time he plays his first NBA game, more than one year from now, he’ll be significantly more ready for that level of play than he was last night.
