rickyfutureagentParticipantEveryone is talking about how Cleveland’s only issue, post-Love trade, is that they do not have a true rim protector. While Varajaeo is a solid player (when he plays), he tends to miss many games due to injury…
Is there anyway the Cavs can pry Dieng away from the T-Wolves in the Love trade? Maybe send Waiters to a 3rd/4th team (the Sixers may be involved with Bennett/Young) in order to get Dieng back in return… This would provide the rim protection the Cavs need in order to have a solid defense for the future.
How do you think the Cavs can pry away the young and talented big man?

llperezi feel like if you are gonna title the thread "potential trade" it shouldnt be just you making up something. My biggest pet peeve on this site is misleading trade titles. It’s like "this just in, potential trade: giorgui dieng to cleavland", people click on the thread and then its just another "what do you guys think, i just made it up in espn’s trade machine?"

ropeParticipantThat is annoying, as these also tend to take up too much space on the forum links. The "potential trades" are not as annoying as the "look at this mixtape of XXX against 7th graders – do you think he is going to be an All Star this year?"
It would seem a lot of site users would rather post what they wish would happen rather than anything interesting, insightful or accurate about things that have actually happened. A lot of this is fed by the ESPN-style reporting on speculation, rather than fact or even opinion. It makes it hard to consume sports news these days.

rileymcshea3ParticipantI think the chances of the Cavs getting Dieng from the T-Wolves is around 0%. Everyone loves and basically needs a rim protecting center and the Wolves know that. It was already hard in enough to get Love to Cleveland. Every player on the Cavs roster was offered for K-Love except Kyrie and LeBron, yet they weren’t interested in any offers until Wiggins name was brought up.
I’m sorry, but the Timberwolves would probably laugh in the Cavs face if they asked for Dieng in that Love/Wiggins trade.

UnbiasedObserverParticipantFor Dan Gilbert and Lebron to ask for Dieng is straight up insulting. He is one of the few players on the wolves that is not going to be moved. For the Cavs to even ask about any potential Dieng deal is laughable at best

NardDog NationParticipantDieng is a 5 and not a 4. You negate all the advantages he provides (athleticism, length, ability to hit the 15ft jump shot, ability to pass from the high post) by playing him at the 4. The Wolves’ best move would be to start fielding offers for Nikola Pekovic at the deadline. I say the deadline because the Wolves will have an opportunity to maximize his value with Love no longer there, which will give them the opportunity to indulge the best possible offers from contenders/aspiring contenders.
Also, I think it’s a horrible idea for them to acquire Thaddeus Young. I know that Anthony Bennett isn’t anyone’s darling but he at least offers youth and a degree of potential. Thad Young is, what he is and will do nothing but take opportunities from Lavine and Wiggins to shine. The Wolves need to rebuild immediately, which should also mean include dealing Ricky Rubio, who isn’t worth a big payday.

WarblingSpamalopeParticipantsigh. I know no one watched wolves games but still. He isn’t an fing throw in player. He finally got 30 minutes a game in April and averaged 12 points 10 boards 2 blocks and almost 1 steal and showed some ability to stretch the floor with his jumper. Sounds like a rookie I would hang on to.

gobullzParticipantThad Young just hoists up errand shots, doesn’t play a lick of D, and will cost 10 mil per. Keep Dieng, a great young rim protector, with a nice 17 footer ala Taj Gibson.
