I just read a rumor on ESPN that the Cavs offered the Nuggets a first rounder for Timofey Mozgov. If it’s true, I think the Nuggets should accept. McGee’s contract has two more years on it, they just drafted Nurkic (who I think is going to be really good), and Hickson can also play some center. It’s also doubtful they would receive that value for Mozgov with any other team. Thoughts?

I’m not sure the Nuggets want to help out the new LA Lakers that is the Cavs. Nobody is going to do Dan Gilbert and his general manager Lebron James any favors.

Typical Celtics fan taking a cheap shot at the Lakers.  But I agree with you.  I doubt any other GMs want to help the Cavs out.

What first rounder?  Didn’t the Cavs just trade their 2015 first rounder for Love?  There’s a good chance that pick wouldn’t be for a few years

I heard the Cavs will trade the T-Wolves Miami’s first round draft pick for next year.

Cavs have picks up their sleeves e.g. Miami Heat 1st rounder in 2015.

They have 3 first rounders next year: their own, the Heat’s (top 10 protected, so they will most likely get it), and the Grizzlies’ (protected 1-5 and 15-30, so there is also a good chance they’ll get it). My guess is that the Wolves are getting either the Heat’s pick or the Grizzlies’ pick, since they will be the more valuable ones, leaving the Nuggets to get the Cav’s pick, which will be one of the last picks of the first round.

The Cavs can not trade their own pick this year. They traded their first in 2016 and per NBA rules can not trade a pick in consecutive years. So look for Wolves to get Miamis pick. On a side not we are buying a billboard in Miami thanking Miami for the pick used to get Love.

first round picks that contain protections. They could trade their 2015 first round pick (Chicago has the right to swap) or the Memphis first round protected pick.

With the way teams are holding onto to first rounders now this isn’t a bad move for the Nuggets. Mozgov has always been underrated and with Varejaos injury history this would be a good move for both teams I believe.

The Cavs would have sent their 2016 pick to Boston to clear the cap money, when Zeller and Jack went out, with Thornton going to Boston from the Nets.

Not sure how the Cavs can fit Mozgov, they would need to find some matching salaries.  Maybe Mozgov to Cleveland for a first rounder, Haywood and J Lucas.  Maybe the Cavs have some other non-guaranteed contracts to use too.

Mozgov would be very good for the Cavs, he needs more playing time, and if Denver can’t trade away McGee then maybe they should get something for Mozgov.

Makes me wonder why Cavs moved Zeller with a pick if they now want another big. I would have thought they could have got a taker for Zeller and maybe got a 2nd rounder for him at least not had to give up a pick to move him.

So they could sign Lebron James. They had to give up a pick, Karasev, and Zeller in order to get rid of Jack.

Thanks for clearing that up about Zeller, I knew they moved Jack to create salary space but thought it strange that Celtics got a decent piece in Zeller and a pick. I guess Cleveland needed to get cap space and needed a 3rd team involved in the Celtics. The Nets are win now so will take any playing asset so Danny Ainge could drive a hard bargain.

What threw me was the Cavs signing veterans like Miller, Haywood after they had got LeBron. They had needed cap space prior to making the trade and then signed veterans for exceptions/vet minimum afterwards.
