I’ve been reading some articles about Harden and Howard that puts them in a pretty negative light.  I read an article a couple weeks ago about when Chandler Parsons left in free agency and Howard said they wouldn’t miss him and Harden said the team was basically him Howard and a bunch or role players.  I read something about Donatas Motiejunas saying their relationship was a "hi and bye" relationship and that Howard and Harden never ate with the team and were always just the two of them.  I don’t know if these articles are speculation or truth, but if they are true, it really looks bad for the both of them.  Houston missed out on any top free agents this summer.  I thought Bosh was a lock to go to Houston but resigned a max with the Heat.  I’ve always been critical of Dwight and have thought he has showed signs of immaturity and selfishness his entire career.  The whole Dwightmare in Orlando and the season in Los Angeles.  It seems as if Dwight has not grown up and it has gotten worse.  As I said, I don’t know if there is any truths to these articles, but if they are true, Dwight and James are showing zero leadership in Houston and it’s pretty embarrassing.  Anybody have any inisde information on what is going on with this whole thing?

I think the stuff about James and Dwight is being blown out of proportion. First I must admit that they made very poor decisions by the way they worded their statements. The message wasn’t wrong but the delivery was all bad. In today’s world everything you say will be used against you, therefore you have to know how to tone down what you say in a way that people will accept it.

Dwight saying that the Rockets won’t be affected because guys will step up is not the wrong message at all. On the other hand people took that as if he was saying Chandler Parsons meant nothing to team.

Harden stated facts when he said that the team is role players built around him and Dwight. Everyone who watches basketball knows that. The problem there is that it shouldn’t come out of his mouth. If it came out of anybody’s mouth other than Harden or Dwight, that statement would be received in a much different light.

With the D-Mo situation, I definitely think that it’s getting spun out of control. I follow the Rockets a lot. There are always pics and vids of the guys out at restaraunts or the movies and other events together. Whether its the entire team or  just Dwight, Beverly, and Isaiah Canaan. Those guys spend a lot of time together. I’m not sure if he’s referring to the offseason or what. Or maybe the guys just don’t have much in common with him. I don’t know, but I definitely can’t picture Dwight and Harden being selfish standoff-ish guys. But you never know, I may be wrong.

How did James Harden go from the lovable beard to an unlikable chucker/flopper/non-existant defender and leader?

We love to build up these players as fans, players like Kobe, LeBron, Harden, Durant… but sooner or later we get bored of them and we begin to pick them apart and choose reasons why to hate them. Especially nowadays every fan favorite, becomes a villain very soon. We even tried labeling spurs as old and should give up blah blah a few years back, but now we all praise them as an organization that whatever touches turns to gold

That was back when he was wildly underrated 6th man for an exciting young team. I still like Harden, but he’s definitely shown a different image since moving to Houston. He just comes off as not caring.

Obvioulsy, these type of locker room issues are almost always less pertinent than as portrayed by the media. But simutaneously, these problems aren’t insignificant. Leadership and team cohesion are factors that can be the difference maker in close games. Simmons always say that a team takes on the personality of their best player, and I happen to agree with that sentiment.

The main reason I was excited for a Bosh signing is because he would have smacked Harden and Howard into line. Because even though the two of them are All-Star caliber talents, they have minimal intangibles and zero charisma.

Yea this all sounds very weird. I’m not saying it can’t happen but Dwight seems like an easy going guy. Maybe the late Orlando years and LA year changed him. James Harden seems goofy too but maybe the money and responsibility made him an a$$. Idk it’s just odd hearing some of these things.

I thought Parsons was a main reason Howard joined the Rockets? Seemed like they hit it off. You can never tell with stories like these but over the years, you see many of these things are true and they play out over time.

This team has potential but it falls on James Harden. He can’t just not try at all defensively. They only have 1 year together. Hopefully this isn’t true or they get it together because the pieces are there. Beverly, Ariza and Howard are all strong defenders and offensively they are great. Just something missing. Maybe it is time for a slightly tougher coach that’ll make the stars a bit more accountable, if it’s not too late.

These are the small things best players have to do to keep the chemistry of the team together. Not eating or hanging out with your teammates gives of an arrogant , I’m a higher class than you type of vibe that the rest of the team will not like.I always felt the Rockets should have been better this year but they weren’t and maybe this is one of the few reasons why.

A leader would never make such comments because he’d know the "role players" would quietly resent him instead of workiing under him happily. Those statements would incite any player not named Harden or Howard on the team. And deservedly so. MJ would never say such a thing, Neither wud Kobe or Lbj or CP3 or Russell or Magic or The Dream.

As a long-time Rox fan, I wanna like this Rockets team but it has a whole lot of personality with NO SOUL.

They’ll never win a title unless they get a leader. Melo wouldn’t have filled that role. Bosh might have. And there is no one Star in the future who’s gonna wanna come down and play with these 2 knuckleheads. We’ll be a 3-6th seed for the next 3 years and never get past the 2nd round. Add to the dilemma that we’ve got a coach who isn’t much of a leader either. McHales mentality is that of "one of the guys".

The last "sorta-leader" they had on the team just signed a mega-contract with Dallas. So who’s gonna lead Houston?
