Do you stand pack and ride it out with this roster?
Do you make trade to fill in for George?
Do you rebuild?
Paul George is done for the season and who knows how long it will take for him to get back to his normal crazy athletic self. Lance Stephenson signed with Hornets leaving only Roy Hibbert, David West, and George Hill from that starting 5 who was basically the whole team last year.
So my question is what now?

hooverballParticipantI don’t think they have many options. George will be back by next year and hopefully they get a SG in the lottery and are much better in 15-16. Tough break, but Roy Hibbert will get plenty of chances to show what he can or cannot do this year…

benny15Participanthonestly, since the pacers have gambled on immature head cases in the past with stephenson and artest and got some success with them, i wouldnt mind giving michael beasley a shot now on a two year deal with the second one being a team option. the deffence will nowhere be the same, but hopefully a team d system built around hibbert will be able to off-set that.
another direction they could go with is to sign shawn marion. although he’s past his prime, he’s still productive. he plays good team d and can still score in short spurts as a 3rd or 4th option. actually, with the lack of a star scorer, im really intrigued to see the pacers run a ball movement system simillar to what coach thibs does with chicago for their offense.shawn marion would definitly be able to capitilize his abilities in such a team

MopgrassParticipantUsually I’d say Marion, but being short on offense, Beasley makes some sense. I’d like to think they could do more with a trade, but they don’t have a lot to give up. Maybe they could trade Solomon Hill, I guess. If the Lakers thought they could lock up Beasley for the minimum, surprise: the price just went up.

The GoatParticipantPacers fans will neg this, but looking at PG’s injury, I think he is done. Its a Shaun Livingston type event, in fact, I actually think Livingston’s wasnt as bad. As the Pacers, you’d have to be worried, because the only real trade assets you have now are David West and Roy Hibbert. I’d be trading them, tanking for now and seeing if PG can recover. I wouldnt hold my breath though.. looks to be a very serious injury.

Livingston’s injury was one of the worst in the history of sports. He broke his leg but the main reason he was so hampered coming back was because of his knee. He either tore or majorly sprained literally every ligament, dislocated it, dislocated his patella and was even told he may have to have his leg amputated.
I compare what happened to George similar to Kevin Ware, where it looks horrific but "only" seems like a broken leg. That will heal.

Ive had injuries from minor to serious playing basketball, rugby and soccer, and one similar, so i think i have an idea.
Anyway, im allowed to make a comment without listening to shit.. You have no idea whether PG will recover or not either!

FearTheStacheParticipantHe had a bad fracture. But honestly, an ACL tear is worse for a basketball player. Once he recovers, he should be fine. Its just bone, no moving parts, ligaments cartilege etc.

Jr. ROXASParticipantWell, Anderson Silva had the same injury late last year. Through reports, I heard that he has been doing really well in his rehab with no hindrances. He will be back early next year but has started training already. I’m not an expert on these injuries but I hope when the doctors put that steel rod in PG’s leg, there will be no more added complications other than rehabbing that broken bone. Hope he will be back next year.

Lance, PG, West and Hibbert are a good core but it was simply not enough to win it all. Many people are suggesting they blow it up and rebuild, I don’t think that is necessary. They should definitely retool their roster. What better way then with a lottery pick. Think about it the draft process might change so even if this team isn’t one of the 5 worse teams in the league they are still not good enough to make the playoffs without arguable their two best players from last year gone. A couple young prospects come to mind that would fit exactly what this organization is looking for: I love the fit of cliff Alexander to this team, he is super competitive and provides energy not to mention has a ton of potential, not to mention that there is a chance mundiay may fall to their lap with the chance he falls because of his decision to go overseas, lastly they could also use another wing player to take pressure off of PG with lance gone some options could be Winslow, Stanley Johnson, even Selden or Justin Jackson could be a nice consolation prize. So with a new core of PG, Hibbert who is still a really good defensive presence, and a top prospect as well. Just like how the spurs got a franchise cornerstone in Duncan after Robinson got injured and didn’t play that year. Then the following year they had two all stars and the rest is history.

Doctors that get quoted on TV give us the typical recovery period. But that typical person is a coach potatoe in their 40s. Athletes regularly beat the original prognosis for recovery.
But he will need to rehab the muscles and because of imbalance in leg strength they may take a cautious approach. Worst case, by October 2015 he is in great shape coming into the season. I doubt a max contract experienced player in his prime needs 82 NBA games tog et back his touch, confidence and match fitness, but lets say he does. Then we are just talking about not having the real PG for two seasons. He is prime by start of 2016 season.
