Are there any NBA players you feel could become better if given the playing time? Two that come to mind for me are Perry Jones III and Jeremy Lamb on OKC. I feel that they could eventually develop into All-Star type players if given sufficient playing time.

Definitely not PJ3 IMO.  Id say Marshall but he is a bit out of the box as is.  I think he’ll flourish into an all-star guard at Milwaukee.

Jeremy Lamb is becoming the new MarShon Brooks.  Everyone thinks he is awesome for no apparent reason.

Wrong, unlike Brooks he actually tries on D/is actually decent at it, is more athletic, plays better off the ball and has shown he’s perfectly happy not being the #1 option.

There are plenty of reasons to love Lamb’s game, Brooks just needs to give him some damn minutes in the regular season so he can prove himself in the post-season.

Hopefully Lamb is plugged into the Thabo role this season in the starting unit (where he fits best IMO) and they bring Morrow off the bench as a shooter.

Also, Harrison Barnes is definitely one for me. It won’t happen in Golden State will all the shooters and now Iggy at his position, but if the Minnesota deal goes down I could see him playing very well.

There are quite a few players that are like this. Vesely in my opinion is a player who would have benefited from actually playing. Meyers Leonard is another example… Teams nowadays are declaring players as busts way to early. Sometimes you just got to let the players play and work out the kinks along the way. Just look how people were already declaring Anthony Bennett a bust last season it’s completely unfair to judge a player on extremely limited playing time.

I think John Henson can be a big time player if he’s given starter minutes, and he’s still improving. He had some monster games this last season. He’s long, athletic, rebounds, and blocks shots. If he can continue to improve on his offensive game, he’s going to be a very valuable player.

Rumor has it that he’s on the trade market and the Bucks are willing to trade him for a first round pick. I would love for the Celtics to make a trade for him. He’d compliment both Sully and KO nicely.

Like Henson very much, if he bulks up to 245-250 lbs, he could become a top 5 center. Like your post and mentioning Boston but I think he’s worth more than a 1st rndr.

He was the first player that came to mind, but not sure he will get the opportunity with Marshall and Knight taking up the minutes.  Unless they play them together and slide Knight to the SG.

Greek Freak is a good call but his potential is more known, almost like saying Andre Drummond for example. I think we are looking for players like Asik when he moved to Houston and had a break out year. Dieng at T-Wolves is one I’ll throw in.

Cody Zeller might have a breakout year..Even though they drafted Noah and signed Marvin Williams, i believe the starting pf spot will be Cody’s to lose..

Two that come to mid as still having great potential are donatas motiejunas and tony wroten. DM once was thought of as a top 3 talent and still shows off the skill level that garnered such high praise. He’s yet to get his "big chance" but has 3 years of Kevin Michael tutelage under his belt and would appear to be Asiks immediate replacement. I think he’s going to have a great future. Also tony wroten has all the intangibles desired in a lead guard and gusto on overload. His jumper is improved and is still improving, I’m hoping he gets moved where as to not get lost or undervalued due to the sixers mediocrity.

There are also some players that would seem to be being given up on, but I believe will find success elsewhere, I.e. Xavier Henry in Memphis was an afterthought and after 1 season with regular minutes, has if nothing else, proven that he belongs in the nba. I believe that there are many players like this, but not all will get the opportunity to showcase their talents. I believe Daniel orton could still carve out a role for himself in the nba as a starting center.  Brandan wright is beginning to come into his own while still underwhelming, I could see his best basketball still being 2-4 years in the future but the tools r all there. Kent bazemore could put up meaningful numbers in the right  situation, he has made steady significant improvements to his game since entering the league, namely shooting. Varicric

I also believe that Carrick Felix is yet to show his true value in the nba.  He’s a hardnosed defender and has prototypical size for an NBA small forward.  Hopefully he gets more opportunities in Utah.  Ed Davis has show flashes throughout his young career but has been dispenseable to both of the organizations hes played for thus far.  I look for him to show more of an offensive game for the Lakers, and his relentless style of play and rim protecting I believe will make him an assett for the Lakers going forward.  Ricky Ledo once again looked good in the summer league, he will leave you scratching your head sometimes but his talent is undeniable.  I think he’s in a good situation for himself as far as his development is concerned.  He should get more minutes this year and i believe he will garner a multiple year contract somewhere in the NBA.  Derrick Favors oozes potential but his practical application has been underwhelming, he and Kanter were not meant to play together and that is becoming more and more obvious.  Kanter also posses great potential but isnt the athlete that favors is.  They need split up before either of them starts to make serious headway in their production and development (in my opinion).

There are also a few european guards that have begun to show their worth and should be mentioned when talking about potential and the NBA.  Nedovic for the warriors, shved for the wolves, and gal mekel for the dallas mavericks.  Nedovic and shved can play both 1 and 2 and are not your typical european players.  Nedovic is strong and heady, he’s also a great athlete by european standards, Above average by nba.  He runs a team really well and with the premium being placed on big lead guards, i wouldnt be surprised to see him targeted by another franchise that has more basketball to go around (if you will) than the Warriors.  He’s also an above average on ball defender, possessing great lower body strength.  Shved is also a great athlete, he’s slight in build but is still a physical guard.  His on the ball defense has room for improvement but his away from the ball d is above average. His range is improving and you can see him get more comfortable in the NBA on a game by game basis, i wouldnt be surprised to see him challenge lavine for minutes, although they did play together alot during summer league. Gal Mekel came in and ran the 3rd point guard position seemlessly.  Unlike the other two, he is a true point guard to the deepest meanings of the term.  He rarely makes a bad play, he lets the game come to him and plays with a great pace to his game.  He also is a bit of a showman when the opportunity presents it’s self.  I look for him to get more minutes this year despite dallas’ depth at the point. personally, id play him over felton and not think twice.  I really hope that these three guys can find a way into their respective teams’ rotations as they have alot more to show.

Not all star but really good players.  Perry Jones III don’t have that dog in home to be an all-star and plus he plays with K.D and Westbrook.

I’m hoping Goodwin is the breakout player this year. After I seen this video, I came away very impressed. Archie wants to be great! I can admit that I had a bad read on him, once he declared for the draft after 1 season under Calipari. I can tell he wanted to return, but it wasn’t worth the risk of losing out in minutes trying to develop his game. At one point, I really felt he wasn’t hungry or self-driven, until I stumbled across this video. I see a little DeMar DeRozan in him now, as far as sneaking back up on us with a solid style of play to heighten his overall game.

Meyers Leonard. I know many people have started to give up for him but entering his 3rd season he’s only 22. He’s 7’1 and a freak athlete with a solid work ethic. I still have faith in time he will develop and can become a defensive force in the paint.

Your post made me think he could be a good fit for the Cavs.  I’m not sure if the Blazers are close to giving up on him but I think he is gettable in a trade.  He could play off of Kyrie, Lebron, and Love with little responsiblity and would be able to stick to only what he can do well.

Definitely Giannis.  I also believe Jordan Hill could put up numbers if he got more time, look at his per 36 stats. Also think Reggie Jackson could go start at PG for a lot of teams. He’s a very good fill in for Westbrook.
