I really like the Rodney Stuckey signing by the Pacers.  While he never really lived up to the hopes of many Pistons fans, Stuckey has been effective in both starting and sixth man roles.  While he is a different type of player, I think his addition (for the veterans minimum) will really offset the loss of Lance Stephenson.

I’m confused as to why people think he’s definitely gonna work in Indy. I mean he’s only effective when attacking and he’s looking to get fouled every time. I think he’d work best as their 6th man to replace George’s.offensive  workload when he’s on the bench but he just has never really fit in a starters role. I don’t even know what other 2 guards they have but I’d start them over Stuckey and let him come in and attack over and over in spurts off the bench.

The fact that he doesn’t seem to mind coming off the bench is one reason I think this will work.

While he will help out some, he isn’t anywhere close to the rebounder, passer or defender that Lance is. Lance is a threat to go for a triple double every night, Stuckey is lucky to break 5 in a stat outside of points. He will be a good infusion of offense off the bench but he isn’t going to offset the loss of a young stud like Lance.

Yeah, Lance was 2nd in ppg, 2nd rpg and 1st in apg in the playoffs for them. For all the criticism Lance gets he was a really good second or 3rd best player on the second best team in the eastern conference at 23 years old

He will come from the bench I guess with CJ Miles in town (who can very well suit up as their starting two-guard). I actually think the Pacers could’ve benefit from a better shooter from downtown last year (Miles: .395%, close to two 3pointers made a game – Lance: .338%, one 3 pointer made per game). Stuckey won’t be a starter, but will be a nice change of pace who can suit up with both Hill, as well as with Miles.

Will they miss Lance? Yes, they will miss his intensity. Can they replace him effectively with a Miles/Stuckey combo? Yes, I think they will and it might even improve team chemistry on the way.

I think Stuckey works as a replacement for Lance because he won’t say "I’m going to put the team on my back" the way Lance did at times, so Paul George will have to continue to be aggressive like he was when Granger first went down before Lance earned regular minutes.

It’s unquestionably George’s team now and it might help him reach his immense potential.

From a chemistry standpoint I think the Stuckey/Miles signings help the Pacers, because Lance (like Granger when he was healthy) was too much of a distraction in the playoffs with his antics.

i think stuckey compliments what the Pacers have very well.  He has Lance-like skills minus the emotional baggage that Lance brings.

For me this is a great signing given the money involved. I think he can provide the play initiation they otherwise completely lack, certainly when some, or all of the starters are off the floor. For me, with Lance’s suicidal crashing of the boards making it’s way to The Hive, Hibbert needs to step up. He needs to show that the second half of last year was an anomaly and as a guy who is 7’2", average AT LEAST 8 RPB. I hope for the pacers that it may even be a psycological thing with Hibbert, where he felt Lance was "taking his boards" and that his departure will see him turn things around.

Quite a bit of pressure on PG now, he needs to start to assert himself as the leader and closer, at the same time as cutting down turnovers and mistakes on the dribble – no easy task.

Guys are talking like Stuckeys a great locker room guy. Lawrence Frank wouldnt think so. Good 6th man addition though but is CJ Miles a championship team level starting 2 guard? Really

George Hill needs to earn his cheque now.
