bloodshyParticipantI’m not sure why the rebuilding Lakers would cut this guy. Marshall is never going to blow anyone away with his athleticism, but he has been very solid when given the chance last year. I liked him more than most did when he was drafted and I still like him. I really don’t understand why people keep giving up on him so fast. I think the Bucks got a solid piece with this pickup.
Just to put Marshall’s 2013-14 stats in context:
Steve Nash’s third year: 32 mpg, 8 ppg, 5.5 apg and .374 from deep.
Jose Calderon’s third year: 30 mpg, 11 ppg, 8.3 apg, .429 from deep.
Kendall Marshall’s second year: 29 mpg, 8 ppg, 8.8 apg, .399 from deep.
Please do not go crazy and say I think Kendall is Nash 2.0… obviously, that is stupid. I’m sure there are plenty of very bad players who had much better year two stats. This is not a player comparison. I’m just saying that this guy is a young developing pg that knows how to run an O efficiently and that he’s shown enough that I think teams should be giving a bit more consideration than they have. The Bucks have been looking for their pg of the future for a long time. I hope Marshall continues on his current trajectory.

llperezHe’s good and lakers said they would have liked to resign to min after they used his open cap space to finish other moves. But bucks swooped in. Lakers have Lin, clarkson and Nash. None of those guys are all that but neither was Marshall. Clarkson actually looked like the better player on the summer team and appears to be a second round steal so Marshall might have fallen behind him anyways.
But Kendall can defenitely play and help a team. He really reads the court well and is one of the best passers in the game. It probably didn’t help the way he looked in summer league playing with lesser talent so his strengths of passing didn’t stand out as much.

jalliParticipanthis lack of athleticism and a broken jump shot really drives his value down. They likely don’t see much potential in him because of those 2 things.

Mr. HookShotParticipantIf he keeps up the good shooting he could definitely become Calderon 2.0: a solid, pass-first PG that lacks the lateral quickness to keep up with the present-day PGs in the league on defense. Despite that he was not known for his shooting in college, he did shoot 39% from 3 and 47% from the field in his last year in college. I like this move by the Bucks, although I think Wolters sort of brings the same from the PG position.

dawsdabossParticipantIm not feeling this Calderon comparison. I truly think Marshall is going to blossom into something more. He is going to make Ginannis, Parker, Henson etc. look real good.

Mr. HookShotParticipantCalderon had some very, very solid seasons during which he averaged 11+ points, close to 9 ast, 3 rbs, with good shooting percentages (0.479/0.411/0.874 for his career). His problem is he has to defend superathletic/fast PGs like Westbrook, Rose, Lawson, Wall etc., which I really doubt he can. If he can (or if Kidd can hide him enough on defense), he can average a double-double for several seasons (10+ pts, 10 ast).

TripleDoubleScoutParticipantI still haven’t figured out why this guy didn’t earn at least a little more respect from the Lakers. Basically nobody on that team last year played great defensively, I never heard of any chemistry/attitude problems about him and he’s young. Oh well. It should be a great fit in Milwaukee.

phila9012ParticipantHe improved his shooting, which was the one thing he needed to do since he wasn’t athletic or good at defense. I think they should start him. He should at least be an average starter if he keeps up his shooting. He would also have the greek freek, parker and Knight(who is better off the ball) to score. And if they did wind up starting Marshall, Knight, Antetokounmpo, Parker and Sanders at least they would be fun to watch and they would be young. Marshall, knight, parker and antetokounmpo are all under 23. As a new bucks fan that would at least give their fans hope

Memphis MadnessParticipantThe Bucks are near the top of the list of teams I want to see next season. Mainly them and the Cavs. Guess pigs are flying. lol
