FearTheStacheParticipantIt’s from Broussard. He also said the Cavs are willing to add in a first rounder. He also says that Minnesota wants more. This just sounds like BS. Classic brous

BajeebzParticipantThey’re offering a 2015 1st rounder, too.
But Minnesota is holding out for more. Bold move, Flip. Bold move, indeed.

TyroberParticipantI almost think all this Wiggins nonsense is leaked from Minnesota so the Warriors will include Thompson in a deal. If I am the Cavs and I can get Love without giving up Wiggins then I do it. If the Wolves ask for Wiggins then I hang up the phone and go on my way being thrilled with the future I have.

phila9012ParticipantIf the deal on the table is Wiggins, bennett and a first round pick the timberwolves should take it and start rebuilding. It is the perfect trade for them to contend in the next 2 to 4 years. Then they should look to unload Pekovic and martin. Kind of like the 76ers only hopefully not as bad. I am a timberwolves fan and a trade like that followed by a rebuild for a few years would be great even after our current 9 year rebuilding plan. I realize the potential of this team in the loaded west even with love is a 6 to 8 seed for a few years at least tearing it down and rebuilding with a new coach and a new gm who wont take 4 pgs in the first round and hopefully would have recognized how talented Cousins is. They missed on all of their top picks except for Kevin Love and did ok with rubio. Hopefully they wouldnt do that bad again picking that high and getting wiggins to start with would be great. But knowing the Timberwolves they will accept the warriors offer eventually and over pay Klay thompson and continue to be a mediocer team.

StarbucksSucksParticipantEveryone said Woj and Broussard were way off base with other FACTORS rumors, which were in fact on point. Either way time will tell. Everyone posting is so caught up in shooting down the rumor rather than addressing the question I posed…Is Love worth Wiggins and Bennett?

aztwulfParticipantThis trade needs to happen for the sake of both teams.
Minnesota cannot compete in the loaded West even with Love. Minnesota needs some kind of tear-down, preferably one that brings back youthful talent and not veterans who have plateaued. If Minnesota takes GSW’s deal, then they get Lee and Klay, and maybe are a 7th or 8th seed and most likely a first round loser. Klay’s rookie deal is about up, and Klay is going to want to get paid. Klay is a nice value on his rookie deal, but is probably going to get overpaid by someone and will cease being a nice value. Lee is a really nice player, but is on a bad (overpaid) contract.
I know that Cav’s fans (or at least most of them) seem to think that they want to roll with the team that they have right now. Wiggins is like a shinny new toy, and they don’t want to give him up. But, in my opinion (yes, I could be wrong) the current Cav’s roster is probably a 3 or 4 seed and a loser in the second round of the playoffs. Even if the Cav’s could get out of the East, they would be huge underdogs against the West finalist. There is no guarantee that Wiggins becomes what Love already is. The Cav’s, with Love, Kyrie, Andy, and LeBron are favorites to win the title.

Memphis MadnessParticipantThe best LeBron lineups are LeBron at power forward, a rebounding, defensive center, a good backcourt, and another shooter at forward.
Well, Kevin Love can’t play center — and he can’t play power forward either.
LeBron, Wiggins, and Andy V would give the Cavs three defensive guys. Kyrie Irving would be the second option on offense. Then you put Waiters at the 2 for slashing, or Mike Miller as an oversized, 3 point sniper at shooting guard.
Kevin Love doesn’t really fit any optimal Cavs lineup.
Anthony Bennett could be that rebounding forward who shoots 3’s anyway.

What The DevilParticipantWasn’t one of the knocks on Chris Bosh that he didn’t rebound anywhere near enough for his position? Love is a much better rebounder than Bosh.

Memphis MadnessParticipantIf the Cavs trade Wiggins to get Kevin Love, then the Cavs pretty much couldn’t play Mike Miller RIGHT?
Could they get away with Kyrie, Love, and MM on the defensive side of the ball? If LeBron is in those lineups then Mike Miller would HAVE to play the 2. Would that make any sense?

JJ_PRParticipantThat’s too much for Love and he only has 1 year left on his contract, that makes his value go even lower. The truth is, Cleveland doesn’t want to trade Wiggins and Minnesota doesn’t want to trade Love.
I’m pretty sure Saunders hired himself as a coach with Kevin Love in mind. He wants to coach Love and he believes they can make the playoffs. They where only two games under .500 last year and would’ve been in the playoffs had they been in the East. They also lost a lot of close games last year which could be blamed on the coach and the defense.
The Wolves need to play Dieng alongside Love more this year, Pekovic is a liability on defense. They should trade him for Larry Sanders or something.

If the Wolves want Wiggins, Bennett, and a 1st.
Then I would demand Love, LeVine, Glen Robinson III and Dieng.

HitsterParticipantCleveland need to take stock and not do a risky trade, I know K-Love is an All Star but he has never been on a winning season and I do wonder how effective he’d be with LeBron and Kyrie as he’d get nowhere near the amount of shots he currently gets and his scoring is his major strength.
I can understand Flip playing hardball and trying to get as much as he can if he thinks K-Love will walk away and the T-Wolves are left with nothing.
If you look at the teams in line to land K-Love next summer and not in a position to try and land him now only really the Knicks spring to mind if we are looking at K-Love going to a big market. The Lakers will have cap space but Kobe would be early 37 then so K-Love would be the first part of a post Kobe rebuild.
I do wonder if other teams are wary that Phil Jackson will snare K-Love in FA so are pushing the boat out to get him now. Any trade would surely require him to opt in for 2015-16 as well so they get some sort of initial commitment.

tuck243ParticipantTeams were tanking to get a shot at one of the big 3 in this year’s draft and the Wolves can get Wiggins, Bennett (who looks better in SL), and a first round draft pick (a pick that will be in the 20’s)… I don’t know what else the Wolves need unless they really think they will be a playoff team next year with Lee and Klay Thompson… Shouldn’t play poker when everyone knows your hand…
I feel like the Cavs should wait anyway… You don’t know what you truly have until the season start and if Wiggins, Bennett, and a 1st round pick isn’t enough then they can wait until the trade deadline… Maybe give them Waiters instead because the Wolves would be itching to get something…
Now for everyone claiming the Cavs defense will be trash… Outside of Kevin Love, damn near everyone on the Cavs roster are ABLE to play defense… Rather they did last year or not isn’t the issue here… You guys forget there is a guy named LeBron James that’s currently on that team? You do know these players will look up to him and they’re not peers? This is HIS team…you guys know that right? With Miami being one of the best defensive teams in the league, LeBron know’s how important team defense is… The atmosphere in Cleveland will be different next year and I expect Kyrie & Co. to do as LeBron does… The defense is a non issue for me because it’s about willingness, not about abilities… Why wouldn’t the Cavs "try" to play defense with LeBron?
Kevin Love is the best stretch 4 in the game not named Dirk… He will fit perfectly with LeBron and they wouldn’t have to worry about the other team sinking in on Kyrie because he can’t shoot 3’s… *cough D Wade*… We are going to see just how good Kyrie really is with LeBron… He always elevate his play when he plays with great players… Love with outlet passes to the best fastbreak guy on the planet… SMH… That team is just scary to think about…

burgessfourParticipantis getting plenty in Wiggins, Bennett and a 1. Going forward they would have Rubio, LaVine, Dieng, Wiggins, Bennett and two 1’s in 2015. I know the parts don’t fit perfectly but that’s a pretty good start.

ExumInfernoParticipantIt’s all about the money and trade rules, Bennett has to be part of it to get the salaries close and Wiggins has to be signed to his deal, if he isn’t already, to get a salary number there too. Love is nearly at $116million, so Bennett is going for his salary total as much as any ability or potential.
Varejao has a big salary to make the trade work, but Cleveland needs to keep him so they have a center.
The interesting part of the trade is that Minnesota probably don’t get out of any big salaries, as teams like Boston and the Lakers had exceptions or cap-space to take on Barea, Martin, Budinger, Shved for Minnesota to save money as well as get back something. Although getting Wiggins is bigger for Minnesota, if it happens, than saving money on some big contracts they don’t like.

WITNESS2014ParticipantI hope the Cavs Keep Wiggins. The free agent big men are pretty good next summer and Love will be a free agent anyways so why do it when its only a year away? I would rather see them keep their players and be a really deep team, sign a center who can protect the rim and split time with Varejao to help keep him healthy.

HitsterParticipantCleveland have Varejao on a expiring deal, I don’t see why they don’t include him as he’s hardly played in the last few years and they could add a veteran big to rebound if needed.
Cleveland could pull a sign and trade next summer and send something back to the T-Wolves then, that would get them in capwise plus LBJ has that opt out so they could resign him around any Love deal.
