i don’t think he can play sf in the nba.  he’s going to be a nice stretch 4 though.  much like channing frye, he can hit 3s but doesn’t fill much of the rest of the stat box.  think he’s got decent handles for a big too.

Yes, Fyre is a pretty similar player actually.

No, he won’t be playing any 3 in the league.  He’ll give them a nice scoring option off the bench.  Classic stretch 4.  Their depth up front is really nice, possibly the best in the league.

I’ll admit I don’t watch a ton of European basketball, but reports are this guy has been the best player in Europe recently.

Maybe someone closer to the action can confirm this, but if it’s true I’d be surprised if he wasn’t a key contributor for the bulls.

From everything I’ve read, he was the best player in Europe.  Although, I assume Euroballer would dispute this claim and tell us all how stupid we are for believing so.

I do see him playing a role, but I’m not sure how big of a role.  My guess would be playing somewhere in the low teens in mpg.  Taj will be the first big off the bench, giving Gasol a rest.  You figure Noah will average something close to his 35 mpg last year, we’ll say 34 mpg this year.  I’d put Gasol’s minutes around 28 mpg.  Gibson averaged 28 mpg last year, and I doubt that number will drop much.  Thibs loves Gibson, and for good reason.  Let’s give say Gibson averages 26 mpg this year.  If Noah plays 34, Gasol 28, Gibson 26, that doesn’t leave many minutes for Mirotic.  On nights where the Bulls are struggling to score, Mirotic will play more.  On nights when the Bulls need more defense than offense, Mirotic won’t play as much.

He would be considered as a nothing more than a very good player. He was a good role player in a big team. That’s it. 5th best player in his team – one of the biggest teams.

Nothing in the vicinity of the best player in Europe. You are entering into territory of Rubio insanity of over hype. Remember I was here telling you how insanely overrated and over hyped Rubio was and remember I was ruthlessly and viciously attacked here also for saying that and I was called a liar and a troll here for that.

I was called a liar and a troll here for saying Giannis was underrated and Rubio was overrated….

I think my track record on European players and how USA rates them speaks for itself.

American media and scouts do not know a damn thing about them. It’s all just made up nonsense.

Mirotic is indeed a very good player, and yes, he’s better than Rubio, it’s nothing that bad, because he can shoot unlike Rubio. But to call him the best player in Europe is absolutely laughable and absurd.

On his own team, Rudy Fernandez, Sergio Llull, Sergio Rodriguez, and Ioannis Bourousis were all better and more important players.

All Mirotic really does on offense is finish. He finishes plays and shots and that’s pretty much it. he also can’t play at all in a half court team, which is what the Bulls are. In addition to this, he is horrible in rebounding and defense, and he’s extremely mentally weak, incredibly soft (like softest player in all of Euroleague, maybe in all of Euroleague history, I seriously do not even joke in this, David Andersen is hardcore compared to him), and he is a HUGE choker.

He is ALWAYS playing the absolute worst in the biggest games, biggest moments, and when his teams needs him the most. He is the absolute for sure kind of player coach Thibodeau will hate the most of any possible kind of basketball player in all of existence possible.

He could not handle coach Laso in Spain, because he was "too hard on him" and coach Laso is the softest coach on players of any coach in all of Europe, and requires his team to play no defense and asks his power forward to not even have to do any rebounding or boxing out.

Mirotic is a good player, but to say he is best of Europe would make any fan of European basketball laugh in your face.

I’m not a troll, but most of what he said is right.  Except the obvious troll stuff… like him being a huge choker.  He was the 4th or 5th best player on his team, doesn’t rebound a ton…. a little overhyped at this point… I personally think McDermott will be the better, more important player.

What he is is a tall, great shooter… great finisher…. above average handles for his size.  Moves his feet decently…. some go to moves.  But he will do most of his damage off the catch and shoot… but he will do a lot of damage.  I can’t wait to see them throw Pau, Mirotic and McD all out there in the front court and watch them shred teams…

I’m excited to see that and I am not even a Bulls fan, it will be beautiful basketball.

The more shooters for the Bulls, the better. It was a huge problem for them last year. I concur with Grandmama, probably the best in the league.

Yes, their number one problem last year was shooting/scoring.  Nobody could put the ball in the bucket.  Hopefully a lot of his minutes come while Rose is on the court, he will spread the floor nicely for Rose.

I do watch a lot of European basketball. He’s elite for sure, but not the best (it doesn’t really matter anyway). In fact, he got benched for long periods of time during the last series of the season.

Also, this was mentioned before in this forum… this guy brings much more than outside shooting. He fights inside (eventhough he’s not so strong) and he has a good face up game. We all know not everything will translate to the NBA, but those other skills won’t have to be built from the ground.

    1. No, he cannot play SF.

    2. He is a very good player, but lol at "best player in Europe". Anyone saying that is a super duper troll of colossal proportions.

Saying Mirotic was the best player in Europe is the same thing as saying that Mirza Teletovic is the best player in the NBA.

The amount of trolling in this forum is absolutely INSANE.

Do you not understand basic basketball concepts? Bourousis had to secure the rebounds and the defense of the paint area so Mirotic could stand behind the 3 point line. Bourousis also had to draw defensive attention both in the low post and in screens in pick and roll, screen and roll and also he was the one doing all the picks….all this getting all the open looks for Mirotic.

And also without Bourousis, the fact that Mirotic plays no defense and won’t box out and has no physical presence would mean you can’t win any games.

And Bourousis was the only player they had that could finish on pick and roll and low and high post in pressure situations and big moments, something Mirotic could NOT do.

So yes, anyone with even a basic understanding of basketball knows Bourousis was more important and valuable than Mirotic, who did nothing but finish baskets. Finish passes all season long was all he did.

That’s why Mirotic was always in the bench at every important moment of the season, while Bourousis was on the floor at every important moment of the season.

It’s something anyone with even the simplest of basic basketball knowledge can grasp.

And that does not even mention that Bourousis can draw a double team if you pass it to him in the low post, while again, all Mirotic does is FINISH passes. He’s a finisher (a very , very efficient finisher with excellent percentages), but he’s not a creator, like Bourousis.

And he’s not controlling rebounds or the paint like Bourousis is. So yes, Bourousis was more important than Mirotic was for them. Just like Llull, Fernandez, and Rodriguez were also. It’s just the truth.

Mirotic is not the best player in Europe – he has never been Euroleague MVP or even made All Euroleague 1st team. Rudy Fernandez and Sergio Rodriguez did.

Best NBA PROSPECT from Europe is a completely different conversation to best player in Europe – the two leagues are different styles!!! Which is why players like Giannis & Rubio can be the first European players taken in their draft but might do little to nothing in Europe.

You have a lot of had to/can and those sound really cool but the actually watching the games tells a different story..why would a half serious team double team Bouroussis when you have the aforementioned players like Llull, Sergio and Rudy..finish baskets is the only phrase you can come up with…the 3pt percentage that he shot,is that also finish baskets? the fact he can put the ball on the floor after a closeout is also finish baskets?? you clearl have a thing for bashing Mirotic but you won’t admit it..that’s ok..as I said, he’s not Kukoc but finish baskets is a phrase no one on this forum uses except you..say hi to your Greek friend..
