laarethekingsParticipantNow that the Lakers got won the bid and got Boozer for 3.25 Million. The Bulls are on the hook for the rest. I got that part.
But can the Lakers trade Boozer mid season? Lets say a team making a playof run wants a Vet that can score off the block. Could the Lakers send Boozer for a Pick or Young Player? Or is he on LA’s roster for the whole season.
Thanks guys.

GrandmamaParticipantI read through the whole amnesty clause and didn’t see any restrictions on trading. I don’t see a problem with any trade involving and amnestied player. In Boozer’s case, the Bulls would still be on the hook for the 13 mil, and the team receiving Boozer would be on the hook for whatever remaining salary he is owed. So yes, he could be dealt.

Magic JordanParticipantNo he cannot be dealt. A player cannot be traded until a year after they are claimed off the amnesty wire. He is a Laker until next July…. the only way he is not a Laker is if they decide to buy him out or waive him… he cannot be traded all season though.

GrandmamaParticipantThat’s not correct. I just found the answer in this article. Teams have to wait 30 days after claiming an amnestied player to be able to trade them. Take a look….

tblazer_NZParticipantGrandmama is right. It is Chicago who cannot require Boozer for a year. He can be traded to any other team after 30 days

MopgrassParticipantIt might be a smart pickup because they could get some middling prospect from a contender later on in exchange for a guy who they only paid 3.25 mil for. I mean, assuming he plays better than last year.
