StarbucksSucksParticipantAs an admitted long time LeBron super fan, I have been closely following the posts related to him and his Cavalier teamates. True, the Cavs are young and inexperienced. Also a fact is that very few roster players on the Cavaliers have any semblance of playoff experience. the common theme among most posts has been that the young team members around Lebron must mature at an accelerated rate for the team to be relevant in the eastern conference playoff race. With that point I stongly agree. I would like to advance another idea, as much as we are emphasizing the need for Kyrie, AW, AB, DW and TT to evolve their games, I truly believe the most significant evolution that must take place will involve LeBron James. We have seen LJ as the ultra talented young phenom carrying a crew of less talented but savvy veteran players. We have seen the mature version of LJ blend and develop his game along side a "super team" in Miami, with Wade and Bosh. This year, although LeBron will be called on to execute with a higher level of efficiency and effectiveness to even have a chance at the 2nd round, let alone the finals. His role will be much different, to achieve the highest success with this team, he must fiercely demand excellence from his teammates like Mike, display the ruthless finishing instinct of Kobe, and at the same time facilitate the success of his young charges like Magic. Ultimately the success or failure of this season rests with him, the most significant evolution we should watch for is if LeBron can display a dynamic personality as a leader that matches his game. His moniker is King James, and he uses the lion as his symbol. To be that king he must lead his kingdom alone, and like the lion his leadership must be absolute, fierce, protective and merciless. Heavy is the head that wears the crown.

TheArtistPaysthePriceParticipantLebron is not as mentally fragile like some people seem to think but he is not built of the iron core mentality like he KGs, Derrick Roses and Kobe Bryants. Neither is Kyrie Irving, when the going gets tough some guys get frustrated and confused and some guys get angry and show even more resolve. It may be an innate trait as some young guys like Damon Lillard has it.
Lebron hinted that he knows thats his next challenge. He has become as effiecient as a basketball player as there can be on both ends. His next steps are mental and he will be tested if a ton of moves aren’t made to increase the BB IQ of this roster.
He seems to have the stones for it so let’s see.
About the on court stuff, for years Lebron and "4 guys" has been a really productive lineup. Lebron and four non All Stars was one of their best five man units over the years. Same when he was in Cleveland. He is a basketball genius and if he can conquer his self he will lead this team to 60 wins. If anyone remembers he had the best regular season record in the East his last two years in Cleveland and the Heat haven’t had the best record in the East in 3 of the 4 years he played there.
The Cavs should not give up any young guys but find a way to get some vets, the Rashard Lewis s of the world, maybe Jermaine O’neal, hell Chauncy Billups anybody that not 22, even if there closer to 44 than 22.

WITNESS2014ParticipantLebron knows what he is getting himself into in Cleveland. Vets like Miller, and Varejao will be a lot of help too. Kyrie and TT are going into their 4th year and now have somebody to help show them the way. This team will be exciting again with the young and athletic players running with Lebron.
I saw something that Waiters doesnt want to be a 6th man, but I really hope he changes his mindset with that as he will still get a tons of minutes. With his passing ability he will be able to get Wiggins, Lebron, and Bennet all kinds of easy dunks. I hope he takes a lot less long 2’s and becomes the playmaker is capable of being.

phila9012ParticipantI saw that too. I don’t know why he wouldnt want to come off the bench especially if they are contending for a title. Manu Ginobli had a great career as a sixth man who would start occasionally. I think he should at least be fine playing sixth man for a few years and if after that he wants to start then the cavs should start him. On this team though, he would definately get more touches coming off the bench

Ghost01ParticipantBefore anyone dismisses the Cavs for 2015, take a look at the 2014 Heat roster. Experienced or not, there were a lot of bums playing a lot of minutes for the Heat, and Kyrie is a better player than anyone they had.

StarbucksSucksParticipantThe talent of the players on the Cavs is really quite special. I really believe that Thompson and Bennett can both be much better players than they have showed to date. Bennett although nowhere near the overall player that KLove is, does bring a unique athleticism around the rim that could thrive next to LeBron in the lineup. Wiggins has special talent, quite possibly all star starter level in about 4 years, until then he is at minimum a more athletic finisher, and speedy wing player than anyone on the 2014 Heat roster. I think Waiters has a special skill set as well. If he is amenable to being a 6th man I can see some positive rotation minutes for him, if not he had better fall in line or he will be quickly shipped. But if the Cavs sign Ray, in addition to Miller, and add another Vet I can easily see a combination of any of the roster save for Kyrie, Wiggins, Varejao, and the vet free agents signed being traded in a package for Love. Even with the roster as it is composed now, I could easily see a deep run for the Cavs. The most positive sign is that regardless of the relative talent and experience of the roster, LeBron has finally stepped up and publicly declared the success of this venture falls upon him. I know Kyrie is a budding superstar no doubt. This team is Lebrons to lead, his way. Win or lose their performance will be a direct reflection of his stewardship.

NeggedNoelSaricthey can compete in the east with the depth of the team and weakness of the east pacers took a step back.
LeBron made players better on court his first time around.
now with the brother hood emphasis he will make them better on and off the court , training, decision wise , diet, discipline ,etc.0 - Posted on: Wed, 07/16/2014 - 2:28am #936844

Memphis MadnessParticipantLeBron needs to learn from Bill Russell.
It’s all about winning now, make your teammates better, so your team can win.
Make the right play on offense AND defense and set up a winning culture.
If LeBron wants to focus on an individual award this season, I think it shouldn’t be MVP (although he will be a frontrunner anyway), but the Defensive Player of the Year award. If he can guard BOTH forward positions, and still give point guards fits (like D Rose or Tony Parker), he could really get this Cavs team going. It will also inspire Wiggins, Irving, and the rest of the Cavs.
If LeBron locks down on defense, gets his guys involved, and leads the Cavs to the best record in the league, then he is going to get the MVP award anyway.
LeBron has an ideal set up here. He’s already been to four straight Finals (first guy to do that since the Bird/Magic Era). 8 straight Finals is doable. A Four Peat is doable. If so that would give him six rings which would put him in the driver’s seat to be the GOAT. And, at that point he would only be 34.

drpg913ParticipantThis whole situation with Lebron is just really strange. I don’t know what to expect. I think he feels like he has some room for error because he already has won 2 championships in Miami. So he migh try to develop these young guys and make players out of them(Tristan Thompson may just not be that talented).
I heard a lot of Lebron’s pre-game speeches and they don’t give me confidence that he will be enough to motivate guys. The idea of Lebron developing players is more wishful thinking than anything else. He doesn’t inspire that same confidence in his teammates that a MJ or Duncan might. Player development is the coaching staffs job anyway. The spurs players became good because they have a world class staff who works with the players to improve on their weaknesses.
